Pine Bluff Confederate Monument
The Pine Bluff Confederate Monument has long been located in front of the Jefferson County courthouse, at Barraque and Main Streets in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. It depicts a standing Confederate Army soldier, holding a rifle whose butt rests on the ground. The statue, built out of Georgia marble by the McNeel Marble Company, stands on a stone base in height and at the base. It was placed in 1910 by the local chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The monument was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. Pine Bluff is the eleventh-largest city in the state of Arkansas and the county seat of Jefferson County. It is the principal city of the Pine Bluff Metropolitan Statistical Area and part of the Little Rock- North Little Rock-Pine Bluff Combined Statistical Area. The population of the city was 49,083 in the 2010 Census with 2019 estimates showing a decline to 41,474. The city is situated in the Southeast section of the Arkansas Delta and straddles the Arkansas Timberlands region to its west.
