Pinball (song)
"Pinball" is a 1974 song by the actor and musician Brian Protheroe. An autobiographical song written whilst Protheroe was living in a friend's flat in Covent Garden, it was released as his first single after he was signed by Chrysalis on the strength of a song he wrote and performed in a play. Upon release, it gave Protheroe his only hit, reaching a peak position of 22 on the UK Singles Chart in September 1974. It was later included on his debut album of the same title. Background Though he had been interested in music from an early age, Brian Protheroe had focused on a burgeoning acting career in the years leading up to his musical releases. His initial stage performances in 1966–67 were with his local repertory theatre at Salisbury Playhouse. After leaving Salisbury, Protheroe settled with the New Theatre Royal Lincoln in 1968. Brian Protheroe
Brian Protheroe (born 16 June 1944) is an English singer, songwriter, narrator and actor. He is best known for his first single, "Pinball", released in August 1974, which entered the UK Singles Chart at number 40 and reached a peak of number 22. He has been narrating the Channel 4 dating show ''First Dates'' since 2015. Career Music Protheroe was born in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, on 16 June 1944, to a Welsh father and English mother. He joined a local church choir when he was twelve years old, and started piano lessons at about the same time. The music of Cliff Richard and the Shadows inspired him to start learning the guitar. Sean Rowley is a British disc jockey and television and radio presenter. He started his DJ career in the mid-1990s touring with the likes of Paul Weller and Oasis. He came up with a concept for the radio show ''All Back to Mine'', which saw him delve into the record collections of music loving celebrities. Guests included the Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Damon Albarn and Paul Weller. The first show was recorded at Supernova Heights with Noel Gallagher and broadcast on BBC Radio 1 on Christmas Day 1997. ''Top of the Pops'' (''TOTP'') is a British record chart television programme, made by the BBC and broadcast weekly between 1January 1964 and 30 July 2006. The programme was the world's longest-running weekly music show. For most of its history, it was broadcast on Thursday evenings on BBC One. Tony Coe
Anthony George Coe (29 November 1934 – 16 March 2023) was an English jazz musician who played clarinet, bass clarinet, and flute as well as soprano, alto, and tenor saxophones. Career Born in Canterbury, Kent, England, Coe started out on clarinet and was self-taught on tenor saxophone. At just 15 years of age in 1949 he played in his school's ( Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys) trad band and two years later, aged 17, became a full professional with Joe Daniels. In 1953, aged 18, he joined the army where he played clarinet in the Military band and saxophone with the unit Dance Band.
