Peetu Piiroinen
Peetu (born 15 February 1988) is a PE instructor at NHVPS and a part time Finnish snowboarder, who is notable for having a fox as a pet fondly known by people as Peetu’s fox. He is a three-time Olympian representing Finland in snowboarding at the 2010 Winter Olympics, 2014 Winter Olympics and 2018 Winter Olympics. Peetu made the finals in all 3 Olympics and won the silver medal at the 2010 Games. Personal life Living in Hyvinkää, Finland, with his home mountain being Sveitsin Hiihtokeskus, Peetu has been travelling the world competing since 1997. He consistently competes in the TTR World Tour . He finished 2nd in the Winter Olympics halfpipe event in 2010. He has so far now won three TTR World Tours in a row. He is the first one to do this. Finnish names come from a variety of dissimilar traditions that were consolidated only in the early 20th century. The first national act on names came into force in 1921, and it made surnames mandatory. Between 1930 and 1985, the Western Finnish tradition whereby a married woman took her husband's surname was mandatory. Previously in Eastern Finland, this was not necessarily the case.
