Pieter Verhoeff
Pieter Verhoeff (4 February 1938 – 17 April 2019) was a Dutch film director. He studied at the Netherlands Film and Television Academy and graduated in 1966. He is known for his films '' The Mark of the Beast'', ''The Dream'' and '' The Moving True Story of a Woman Ahead of Her Time''. All three stories take place in his native Friesland. He won two Golden Calf's in his career. Lemmer
Lemmer () is a town in the municipality of De Fryske Marren, in the Dutch province of Friesland. Lemmer lies adjacent to the IJsselmeer and the Frisian Lakes and is one of Friesland's best-known surface water sports locations. Lemmer is a bustling lakeside resort in the summer months and attracts not only day-trippers from surrounding communities such as Emmeloord, Urk, and Joure, but also national and international tourists. ''The Letter for the King'' ( nl, De Brief voor de Koning, ) is a 2008 Dutch adventure film written by Maarten Lebens and Pieter Verhoeff and directed by Verhoeff. The film is based on the 1962 book of the same name by Dutch writer Tonke Dragt. Golden Calf
According to the Bible, the golden calf (עֵגֶל הַזָּהָב '' ‘ēgel hazzāhāv'') was an idol (a cult image) made by the Israelites when Moses went up to Mount Sinai. In Hebrew, the incident is known as ''ḥēṭə’ hā‘ēgel'' (חֵטְא הָעֵגֶל) or "the sin of the calf". It is first mentioned in the Book of Exodus. Bull worship was common in many cultures.
