Piet Leidreiter
Piet Leidreiter (born 2 February 1965) is a German politician. He was federal treasurer of Alternative for Germany until 2015. He was a founding member of the Liberal Conservative Reformers (ALFA) party and was a member of the Bürgerschaft of Bremen, Bremen Parliament from 2015 to 2019. Since 12 June 2017, he has been a member of the voters' association Citizens in Rage (BIW). Biography Family, education and career Leidreiter was born in Bremen. After graduating from high school and vocational training as a tax clerk, Leidreiter studied business administration with a legal focus. He is a senior executive in the family's tax consultancy firm. Ulrich Mäurer
Ulrich Mäurer is a German lawyer and politician (SPD). He is Minister for the interior in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. Life Mäurer studied law at the University in Marburg and Bremen and reached his degree in 1978. He became Assessor in Bremen Administration and worked later in several positions at the law, corrections and interior departments of the state of Bremen. 2023 Bremen State Election
The 2023 Bremen state election was held on 14 May 2023 to elect the 21st Bürgerschaft of Bremen. Elections to the city councils of Bremen and Bremerhaven, the two municipal entities comprising the Bremen (state), state of Bremen, were held simultaneously. Bremerhaven
Bremerhaven (; ) is a city on the east bank of the Weser estuary in northern Germany. It forms an exclave of the Bremen (state), city-state of Bremen. The Geeste (river), River Geeste flows through the city before emptying into the Weser. Bremerhaven was founded in 1827 as a seaport for Bremen, and it remains one of the busiest ports in the country. It was historically rivalled by on the opposite side of the Geeste, which belonged to Kingdom of Hanover, Hanover (and later Kingdom of Prussia, Prussia). Bremen (), officially the Free Hanseatic League#Lists of former Hansa cities, Hanseatic City of Bremen (; ), is the smallest and least populous of States of Germany, Germany's 16 states. 2019 Bremen State Election
The 2019 Bremen state election was held on 26 May 2019 to elect the members of the Bürgerschaft of Bremen, as well as the city councils of Bremen and Bremerhaven. The election took place on the same day as the 2019 European Parliament election. The opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU) became the largest party in the Bürgerschaft, while the Social Democratic Party (SPD) fell to second place. The Greens and The Left also recorded small upswings. Despite winning a narrow plurality, the CDU was opposed by a left-wing majority in the Bürgerschaft. Incumbent Mayor Carsten Sieling resigned after the election, and was succeeded by fellow SPD member Andreas Bovenschulte, who formed a three-party coalition government between the SPD, Greens, and Left.
