Pierre P. Ferry House
The Pierre P. Ferry House (1903–1906) is a historic home in Seattle, Washington, United States. History The American Craftsman home was designed for attorney Pierre Ferry by Seattle architect John Graham. The art glass windows in the main hall with the elaborate peacock were designed by Tiffany Studios. Orlando Giannini of the Chicago firm Giannini & Hilgart designed the mosaic with its wisteria motif. American Craftsman
American Craftsman is an American domestic architectural style, inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, which included interior design, landscape design, applied arts, and decorative arts, beginning in the last years of the 19th century. Its immediate ancestors in American architecture are the Shingle style, which began the move away from Victorian ornamentation toward simpler forms; and the Prairie style of Frank Lloyd Wright. The name "Craftsman" was appropriated from furniture-maker Gustav Stickley, whose magazine ''The Craftsman'' was first published in 1901. The architectural style was most widely used in small-to-medium-sized Southern California single-family homes from about 1905, so that the smaller-scale Craftsman style became known alternatively as " California bungalow". John Graham & Company
John Graham & Company, or John Graham & Associates was the name of an architectural firm, founded in 1900 in Seattle, Washington, by English-born architect John Graham (1873–1955), and maintained by his son John Graham Jr. (1908–1991). The firm was responsible for many Seattle landmarks and a number of significant structures nationwide, including the Space Needle, the Chase Tower of Rochester, New York, and the Westin Seattle. Giannini & Hilgart
Giannini and Hilgart is a studio established in 1899 which manufactured stained glass windows. It was formed by Orlando Giannini, a Swiss-Italian from Ohio, and Frederick Hilgart, born in Germany. The studio created and designed colorful glass windows for businesses, homes, churches, fireplaces, and mantels. Frank Lloyd Wright worked with Giannini and Hilgart to produce his prairie-style windows. George Maher was another client of Giannini and Hilgart. The studio also manufactured pottery.
