Pierre Gagnaire
Pierre Gagnaire (born 9 April 1950 in Apinac, Loire) is a French chef, and the head chef and owner of the eponymous Pierre Gagnaire restaurant at 6 rue Balzac in Paris (in the 8th arrondissement). Gagnaire is an iconoclastic chef at the forefront of the fusion cuisine movement. Beginning his career in St. Etienne where he won three Michelin Stars, Gagnaire tore at the conventions of classic French cooking by introducing jarring juxtapositions of flavours, tastes, textures, and ingredients. On his website, Gagnaire gives his mission statement as the wish to run a restaurant which is 'facing tomorrow but respectful of yesterday' (''"tourné vers demain mais soucieux d'hier"''). Apinac
Apinac () is a village and commune in the Loire department in central France. Apinac is in the extreme southwest of the Loire department, southwest of Saint-Étienne. The church, dated to the 19th century, is noted for its colorful stained glass windows. Vivaro-Alpine, is the local dialect, which is also spoken in Ardèche or the Southern Alps. The Château de Brissac is a French château in the Brissac-Quincé area of the commune of Brissac Loire Aubance, located in the department of Maine-et-Loire, France. The property is owned by the Cossé-Brissac family, whose head bears the French noble title of Duke of Brissac. The château is listed as a '' monument historique'' by the French Ministry of Culture. Pierre is a closed French Haute cuisine, cuisine restaurant which was situated on the 25th floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, Mandarin Oriental hotel in Hong Kong. It opened in October 2006 after a major renovation to the hotel and was Pierre Gagnaire’s pied-à-terre in Hong Kong. It replaced Vong's (1997–2005), which replaced Pierrot (1979–1997), a classic French restaurant. After 14 years in service, Pierre closed on 31 July 2020. Courchevel () is a French Alps ski resort. It is a part of Les Trois Vallées, the largest linked ski areas in the world. Courchevel also refers to the towns of Courchevel 1300 (Le Praz), Courchevel 1550, Courchevel 1650 (Moriond), and Courchevel 1850, which are named for their altitudes in metres.
