Pierata (foaled 16 November 2014) is a Group 1 winning Australian thoroughbred racehorse and sire. Background Pierata was sold for A$160,000 at the 2016 Magic Millions yearling sale. Racing career As a 3 year old Pierata won the Vo Rogue Plate at Doomben Racecourse. Two weeks later he won the Magic Millions 3 year old Guineas and in doing so collected the largest prize money in the history of Queensland racing, A$ 1.2 million for first place as well as a $500,000 bonus for previous races won. After 7 unsuccessful performances in Group 1 races, Pierata finally achieved Group 1 success in the 2019 All Aged Stakes at Royal Randwick Racecourse. In the 2020 World's Best Racehorse Rankings, Pierata was rated on 118, making him the equal 80th best racehorse in the world. Pierro (horse)
Pierro (foaled 5 October 2009) is a retired Australian thoroughbred racehorse who is now standing at stud. A bay horse, he stands at 16.1hh. He was from the fifth crop of the champion racehorse and stallion Lonhro out of the dam Miss Rite Note (IRE)(by Daylami). Pierro had a short racing career, racing in just two seasons and retiring to stud as a three-year-old. He ran in a total of 14 races, with 11 wins and 3 placings, including 5 Group 1 wins. His distances ranged from 1200m to 2040m. He was bred at Musk Creek Farm and sold for $230,000 in the Magic Millions sale. He was an unbeaten Triple Crown winner at 2 years, and a dual Group 1 winner at 3 years, earning him the title of both the highest rated Australian juvenile since 1977, and the highest rated 3yo sprinter in the world in 2013. The All Aged Stakes is an Australian Turf Club Group 1 Thoroughbred Weight for Age horse race, run over a distance of 1,400 metres at Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, Australia in April or May during the ATC Autumn Carnival. Prize money is A$1,500,000. History The race has a long history and presence in the AJC Autumn Meeting dating back to 1865. The race was open to any aged thoroughbred including 2 year olds. In 1885 the 2-year-old filly Astrœa was victorious. The race attracted champions from every era that included Carbine, Wakeful, triple winner of the race Ajax, Tulloch and Tobin Bronze. Doomben Racecourse
Doomben Racecourse is a horse racing venue in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is located in the suburb of Ascot, Queensland, Ascot, 7 kilometres north of the Brisbane central business district. The Doomben course neighbours another thoroughbred venue called the Eagle Farm Racecourse and can be accessed via car, train or bus. Together with Eagle Farm, these courses are considered the two major racecourses in South East Queensland, and can be seen sharing irrigation systems and some of Brisbane Racings feature events.
