Turin ( , ; ; , then ) is a city and an important business and cultural centre in northern Italy. Challenge Tour
The Challenge Tour, currently titled as the HotelPlanner Tour for sponsorship reasons and also sometimes referred to as the European Challenge Tour, is the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe. It is operated by the PGA European Tour and similarly with the main European Tour and the European Senior Tour, some of the events are played outside Europe. History The tour was introduced in 1986, when the national tours of Sweden, France and Italy became open to foreign players, and was initially called the Satellite Tour. The Order of Merit was introduced in 1989, with the top five players on it winning membership of the European Tour for the following season. The following year the tour was renamed the Challenge Tour, a name already used in 1989. Stroke Play
Stroke play is a scoring system in the sport of golf. In the regular form of stroke play, also known as medal play, the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. In a regular stroke play competition, the winner is the player who has taken the fewest strokes over the course of the round, or rounds. Other forms of stroke play include Stableford, whereby points are gained based on hole scores, maximum score, in which there is a limit to the number of strokes that may be taken on each hole, and Par (golf scoring format), par (or bogey), where holes are won or lost against a target score on each hole. Although most professional tournaments are played using the regular stroke play scoring system, some notable exceptions exist. Seve Benson
Seve Benson (born 4 November 1986) is an English professional golfer. Early life and amateur career Benson was born in Guildford, Surrey, and was named after European golfing legend Seve Ballesteros. As an amateur, he was a member of the English Golf Union's Elite A Squad, and won the Russian and Qatar amateur open championships. He went on to make the cut at each of those countries professional championships while still an amateur, finishing tied 58th in the Qatar Masters, and tied for 10th in the Russian Open Golf Championship, Russian Open. Professional career In 2007, Benson turned professional. He attempted to win a place on the European Tour. He reached final stage of the qualifying school, but missed the 72 hole cut. However, by getting through to the final stage, he had already done enough to enable him to play on the second tier Challenge Tour in 2008.
