Piece (Monsta X Album)
''Piece'' is the first Japanese-language album and second studio album of the South Korean boy group Monsta X. It was released and distributed by Universal Music Japan on April 25, 2018. Background and release The album was announced in February 2018, as Monsta X's first Japanese album. The album consists of ten tracks, including four new tracks, while the other six were already released singles or Japanese versions of some of the group's earlier Korean tracks. Just prior to the release of this album, in March 2018, "Spotlight", originally released in January that year, became a certified gold single by Recording Industry Association of Japan, RIAJ, the first of the group's Japanese singles to achieve this certification. On April 10, a music video for the track "Puzzle" was released in advance of the album, with a short version of the music video posted to YouTube. Monsta X (; stylized as MONSTA X) is a South Korean boy group formed through the reality survival program ''No.Mercy'' under Starship Entertainment. The group is currently composed of six members: Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney, and I.M, with former member Wonho having left the group in October 2019. The group debuted with their first EP ''Trespass'' on May 14, 2015. The Oricon Singles Chart is the Japanese music industry-standard Single (music), singles popularity chart issued daily, weekly, monthly and yearly by Oricon. Chart rankings are based on physical singles' sales. Until 2017, Oricon did not track download sales. In Japan, physical sales decreased sharply in the 2000s, while download sales hit three to four times the amount of single sales. In November 2017, Oricon introduced its first digital songs chart, separate from its main physical singles chart. On December 24, 2018, Oricon launched a streaming chart, and introduced a combined singles chart that utilizes physical single sales, downloads, and streams. The Oricon Albums Chart is the Japanese music industry standard albums popularity chart issued daily, weekly, monthly and yearly by Oricon. Oricon originally published LP, CT, Cartridge and CD charts prior to the establishment of the Oricon Albums Chart on October 5, 1987. The Oricon Albums Chart's rankings are based on physical albums' sales. A Digital Albums Chart based on download sales was established on November 19, 2016. On December 24, 2018, Oricon introduced a Combined Albums Chart based on album-equivalent units. It counts physical sales, digital sales and streaming. Charts are published every Tuesday in Oricon Style and on Oricon's official website.
