Mary Ada Pickford
Mary Ada Pickford, (5 July 1884 – 6 March 1934) was an English politician, industrialist and historian. After working to support the Conservative Party over several years, she was elected as a Member of Parliament in 1931, and specialised in Indian issues; she also used her knowledge of the factory system gained while working as an inspector during the First World War to speak about employment issues. Pickford supported her constituency through the depression of the 1930s but died suddenly of pneumonia at the age of 49. Pickford's House Museum of Georgian Life and Costume is in Derby, England. It is named after architect Joseph Pickford, who built it as his family home in 1770. It was opened as a museum in 1988. The building is Grade I listed. History Pickford's House, at No 41 Friar Gate Derby, is an elegant Georgian town house built by the prominent architect Joseph Pickford in 1770 for his own family. The original Pickfair was an estate designed by architect Horatio Cogswell for attorney Lee Allen Phillips of Berkeley Square as a country home. William Pickford (1861–1938) was an English football administrator, who played an important role in the early development of The Football Association, in which he was its most recent President not to come from the British royal family. Early life Pickford was born in Lancashire and was initially interested in rugby before, in 1878, he was invited to attend a football match between Blackburn District and Bolton. William Pickford, 1st Baron Sterndale, (1 October 1848 – 17 August 1923) was a British lawyer and judge. He served as a Lord Justice of Appeal between 1914 and 1918, as President of the Probate, Divorce and Admiralty Division between 1918 and 1919 and as Master of the Rolls between 1919 and 1923. Murder Of Jody Dobrowski
Jody Dobrowski (27 June 1981 – 15 October 2005) was an English 24-year-old assistant bar manager who was murdered on Clapham Common in south London. On 14 October, at around midnight, he was beaten to death with punches and kicks by two men who believed him to be gay, and pronounced dead in the early hours of 15 October. Tests carried out at St. George's Hospital in Tooting, South London revealed Dobrowski had a swollen brain, broken nose and extensive bruising to his neck, spine and groin. His family was unable to identify him due to his face being so badly disfigured and he had to be identified by fingerprints. His two assailants, Thomas Pickford and Scott Walker, pleaded guilty to the murder of Dobrowski at the Old Bailey criminal court on 12 May 2006 and were sentenced to life imprisonment on 16 June 2006 with a minimum of 28 years to be served. Olive Thomas (born Olive R. Duffy; October 20, 1894 – September 10, 1920) was an American silent-film actress, art model, and photo model. Her birth certificate appears to list her name as Oliva but this is widely thought to be an error. In the 1900 census, she is listed as Olive R. Duffy. Thomas began her career as an illustrator's model in 1914, and moved on to the ''Ziegfeld Follies'' the following year.
