Pia Nilsson (golfer)
Pia Nilsson (born 8 May 1958) is a Swedish professional golfer and coach. She was one of the two players, who were the first female Swedes to play collegiate golf at a University in the United States and the first Swede to captain a European Solheim Cup team. Early years Born in Malmö, Nilsson began playing golf at around 10 years of age, with her family at Torekov Golf Club in another part of Scania in southern Sweden, when they spend their summers there. At 14 years of age, her handicap had gone down to 10. In her golf career, she later also came to represent Ystad Golf Club, Jönköping Golf Club, Ljunghusen Golf Club and Lidingö Golf Club. 1980 Espirito Santo Trophy
The 1980 Espirito Santo Trophy took place 1–4 October at Pinehurst Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina, United States. It was the ninth women's golf World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 28 teams, each with up to three players. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. The United States team won the Trophy, taking back the title from four years ago and winning their seventh title, beating defending champions team Australia by seven strokes. Australia earned the silver medal while team France and the combined team of Great Britain and Ireland, shared the bronze on tied third place another 15 strokes behind. The Swedish Junior Strokeplay Championship is a national golf tournament in Sweden for golfers under the age of 22, contested for both men and women. Known also as the JSM Slag, it has been organized by the Swedish Golf Federation since 1977 when JSM Match, the Swedish Junior Matchplay Championship contested since 1939, switched from match play to stroke play format. Charlotte Montgomery (born 24 August 1958) is a Swedish professional golfer. She was one of the two players, who were the first female Swedes to play collegiate golf at a university in the United States and she was the first Swede to qualify for one of the main golf tours in the U.S. Early years Montgomery was born in Stockholm, Sweden, as the second of three daughters to Henry and Barbro Montgomery. Espirito Santo Trophy
The Espirito Santo Trophy (World Women's Amateur Team Championships) is a biennial world amateur team golf championship for women organised by the International Golf Federation. The inaugural event was held in 1964. It was instituted by the French Golf Federation in an agreement with the United States Golf Association. It was planned by Lally Segard, at the time known as Vicomtesse de Saint Sauveur, from France and Mrs. Henri Prunaret from America. Segard also asked her friends Ricardo and Silvia Espirito Santo, from Portugal, to donate a trophy for the event, which they did.
