Phuze
"Phuze" is a single by South African DJ and record producer known under the alias of Dlala Thukzin, it was released on 26 March 2021 through Ingrooves on behalf of Dlala Records and it features vocals from Zaba. In mid-2023 it was certified Gold by the Recording Industry of South Africa. The single (and remix version) stirred a heated argument on Twitter when a house music record producer DJ Shimza labeled the song afrohouse when people couldn't figure out whether it is amapiano, gqom or afro tech. Dlala Thukzin never commented on the matter to clarify the genre of the song. Thuthuka Wandile Zindlovu, prominently known as Dlala Thukzin is a South African DJ and record producer born and bred in Lamontville, KwaZulu-Natal. He is famous for his versatility of blending amapiano and afro tech with gqom. Zindlovu came to prominence subsequent to producing Babes Wodumo's "Umngan'wami" taken from her 2016 studio album ''Gqom Queen, Vol. 1''. In 2021, Thukzin released " Phuze" and " Phuze Remix" with guest appearances from Zaba, Mpura, Sir Trill and Rascoe Kaos, the prior and latter certified Gold and Platinum respectively by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA). Gqom () '(Igqomu) () is a genre of electronic dance music that emerged in the early 2010s from Durban, South Africa, pioneered largely by producer DJ Nathan_Medee, DJ Lag, Rudeboyz, Griffit Vigo, Mbreshcar SA and Citizen Boy. It was developed from kwaito, a subgenre of house music from South Africa. Amapiano ( Zulu for "the pianos") is a style of house music that emerged in South Africa in the mid 2010s. It is a hybrid of deep house, jazz and lounge music characterized by synths and wide percussive basslines.
