Robert William Thomas, known professionally as Phonetix (/fəʊˈnɛtɪks/), is an English electronic music producer, DJ, radio personality, podcaster and label executive. Early life Thomas started playing the piano at age four. During his teens, he received some inheritance money, which he used to build a small home studio. Inspired by the production work of Dr. Dre, he began recording hip hop beats as a means to distract him from issues he was having at school. Career Then known as Robbie T, Thomas' career began in the early 2000s when some of his music received support from UK garage DJ, EZ on Kiss FM. He recorded under a number of names (including Soul Master and Wolverine) until 2007/8, after which point he mostly worked as Phonetix. Therese Grankvist
Therese Grankvist (born 2 May 1977) is a Swedish singer and songwriter. She started recording in 1997 under the Drömhus alias, and goes by Therese since the release of her single "Monkey" in 2002. She may be best known for her internationally successful collaborations with Swedish DJ and producer StoneBridge, " Put 'Em High" and " Take Me Away", released on Hed Kandi in 2004. "This Is How We Do It" is the debut single by American singer Montell Jordan. It was released by Def Jam Recordings on February 6, 1995 as the lead single from his debut album, also titled ''This Is How We Do It'' (1995). The single was Def Jam's first R&B release. The song is representative of the hip hop soul style popular at the time. The song features Jordan singing over an enhanced Teddy Riley drumbeat sample of Slick Rick's "Children's Story" which in turn has an added interpolation of the bass of Bob James' "Nautilus". "This Is How We Do It" peaked at number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 on April 15, 1995, rising from number six the previous week and displacing Madonna's "Take a Bow" from the top spot. Montell Du'Sean Barnett Jordan (born December 3, 1968) is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. Best known for his 1995 single "This Is How We Do It", Jordan was the primary male solo artist on Def Jam's Def Soul imprint until leaving the label in 2003. In 2010, Jordan left the music business to become the worship leader at Victory World Church in Norcross, Georgia. Maurice Oude Booyink (born 1984) is a Dutch DJ and record producer from Almelo, best known under the stage names Inmado and Joe Stone. After producing for artists such as Havana Brown and R3hab, Joe Stone has been dedicated to his personal career and joined the label Spinnin' Records in 2015 after winning a "remix contest" organized during the year.
