Pholoe (annelid)
Foloi (, Latin: ''Pholoe'') is a village and a former municipality in Elis, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Archaia Olympia, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 174.202 km2. The seat of the municipality was in the village Lalas, in the southern part of the municipal unit. The village Foloi is situated in the northwestern part. Foloi is situated in a mountainous, sparsely populated area. The Foloi oak forest is located in the municipal unit. Foloi is located about 15 km northeast of Olympia, 30 km east of Pyrgos and 55 km south of Patras. It borders on Arcadia to the east, across the river Erymanthus. History The village, formerly named Giarmena (), was renamed in 1928 after an ancient name related to the centaur Pholus. West Greece
Western Greece Region (, ) is one of the thirteen Modern regions of Greece, administrative regions of Greece. Oleni
Oleni () is a village and a former Communities and Municipalities of Greece, municipality in Elis (regional unit), Elis, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Pyrgos, Elis, Pyrgos, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 152.231 km2. The seat of the municipality was in Karatoula, Elis, Karatoula. The municipal unit was named after the ruined medieval town Olena, which also gave its name to the Bishopric of Olena. It consists of a wide valley around Karatoula and Magoula, Elis, Magoula, and the hills west and east of the valley. It is located about 10 km northeast of Pyrgos, 13 km northwest of Olympia, Greece, Olympia and 20 km southeast of Amaliada. The largest community is Goumero. The ancient town Amphidolis was located near present Karatoula. Kontovazaina () is a village and a former municipality in Arcadia, Peloponnese, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Gortynia, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 137.496 km2. Achaea borders the municipal unit to the north and Elis to the west. It is situated in mountainous northwestern Arcadia, between the rivers Erymanthos and Ladon. The Ladon reservoir is in easternmost part of the municipal unit, and the mountain Afrodisio (1,447 m elevation) is in the north. The village Kontovazaina is situated in a valley, 3 km north of the Ladon. It is considered a traditional settlement. |
