Pholiotina Cyanopus
''Conocybula cyanopus'' is a species of fungus that contains psychoactive compounds including psilocybin and the uncommon aeruginascin. Originally described as ''Galerula cyanopus'' by American mycologist George Francis Atkinson in 1918. It was transferred to ''Conocybe'' by Robert Kühner in 1935 before being transferred to ''Pholiotina'' by Rolf Singer in 1950 and finally to ''Conocybula'' by T. Bau & H. B. Song in 2024. ''Conocybula cyanopus'' is recognized as the type species of ''Conocybula sect. Cyanopodae''. While the taxon ''Conocybula smithii'' has sometimes been considered as a junior synonym of ''Conocybula cyanopus'', this much more common species differs by its distribution, DNA barcode, length of its cheilocystidia and pileocystidia. Robert Kühner
Robert Kühner (15 March 1903 in Paris – 27 February 1996 in Lyon) was a French mycologist most notable for reviewing many forms of agaric (mushroom fungus) genera. He studied at the University of Paris, Sorbonne, afterwards from 1921 until 1932, he was working as a high school teacher in Lille. Then, from 1938 until 1973, he was associated with the Faculty of Sciences at Lumière University Lyon 2, Lyon. He was honoured in 1946, with ''Kuehneromyces'', which is a genus of fungi in the family Strophariaceae. In geology, a striation is a groove, created by a geological process, on the surface of a rock or a mineral. A sclerotium (; : sclerotia () is a compact mass of hardened fungal mycelium containing food reserves. One role of sclerotia is to survive environmental extremes. In some higher fungi such as ergot, sclerotia become detached and remain dormant until favorable growth conditions return. Sclerotia initially were mistaken for individual organisms and described as separate species until Louis René Tulasne proved in 1853 that sclerotia are only a stage in the life cycle of some fungi. Further investigation showed that this stage appears in many fungi belonging to many diverse groups. Psilocybe Tampanensis
''Psilocybe tampanensis'' is a very rare psychedelic mushroom in the family Hymenogastraceae. Originally collected in the wild in a sandy meadow near Tampa, Florida, in 1977, the fungus would not be found in Florida again until 44 years later. The original Florida specimen was cloned, and descendants remain in wide circulation. The fruit bodies (mushrooms) produced by the fungus are yellowish-brown in color with convex to conic caps up to in diameter atop a thin stem up to long. ''Psilocybe tampanensis'' forms psychoactive truffle-like sclerotia that are known and sold under the nickname "philosopher's stones". Psilocybe Mexicana
''Psilocybe mexicana'' is a psychedelic mushroom. Its first known usage was by the natives of North and Central America over 2,000 years ago. Known to the Aztecs as teonanácatl, from the Nahuatl ''teotl'' ("god") + ''nanácatl'' ("fungus"). This species was categorized by French botanist Roger Heim. It was from this species that Dr. Albert Hofmann, working with specimens grown in his Sandoz laboratory, first isolated and named the active psychedelic compounds psilocybin and psilocin. ''Psilocybe semilanceata'', commonly known as the liberty cap, is a species of fungus which produces the psychoactive compounds psilocybin, psilocin and baeocystin. It is both one of the most widely distributed psilocybin mushrooms in nature, and one of the most potent. The mushrooms have a distinctive conical to bell-shaped cap, up to in diameter, with a small nipple-like protrusion on the top. They are yellow to brown, covered with radial grooves when moist, and fade to a lighter color as they mature. Germ Pore
A germ pore is a small pore in the outer wall of a fungal spore through which the germ tube exits upon germination. It can be wikt:apical, apical or eccentric in its location, and, on light microscopy, may be visualized as a lighter coloured area on the cell wall. Apical germ pore is mushroom spore which has a pore at one end. Some spores have a hole in the cell wall where the first strand of germinating mycelium emerges. If the cell wall is divided from one end to the other, this is called a germ slit. Commonly the germ pore is at one end of the mushroom spore and is called an apical pore.
