Philippine Village Hotel
Philippine Village Hotel (colloquially PVH) is an abandoned hotel located within the Nayong Pilipino Complex, next door to Ninoy Aquino International Airport, in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Designed by National Artist Juan Nakpil, it was hailed as the first airport hotel in the Philippines. The hotel, now owned by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), used to be the in the hands of Pampanga-based Enriquez-Panlilio family, who are involved in the real estate and shipping industry (and are also the same owners of the Silahis International Hotel). The Old Nayong Pilipino, officially the Nayong Pilipino Cultural Park, was a cultural theme park near Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay, Metro Manila. Operational history The organization that ran the theme park in Pasay, the Nayong Pilipino Foundation was established through Presidential Decree 37 which was issued by then-President Ferdinand Marcos on November 6, 1972. Grand International Airways (or Grand Air) was a short-lived airline in the Philippines which operated during the mid-to-late 1990s. History The airline was established when the Philippine Government started to deregulate its domestic aviation industry after decades of monopoly by Philippine Airlines, then wholly owned by the government. Grand Air was owned by the Panlilio family, which also owned Grand Boulevard Hotel in Roxas Boulevard, Philippine Village Hotel (Airport Hotel) and Puerto Azul - a resort hotel in Cavite. Maria de Amparo Muñoz y Quesada (21 June 1954 – 27 February 2011) was a Spanish actress, model and beauty queen who won the Miss Universe 1974 competition in Manila, Philippines, being the first and only Spaniard Miss Universe titleholder to date. The Turbine Steamship ''Fairsky'' was a one-class Italian-styled passenger ship operated by the Sitmar Line, best known for service on the migrant passenger route from Britain to Australia from May 1958 until February 1972. After a 20-month lay-up at Southampton, ''Fairsky'' completed two further voyages to Australia, before returning to be based at Sydney as a popular full-time cruise ship, until striking an unmarked wreck in 1977 which rendered the vessel uneconomic to permanently repair.
