Philipp Demandt
Philipp Demandt (born 1971 in Konstanz) is a German art historian and director of the Städel Museum and the Liebieghaus sculpture collection in Frankfurt am Main. Life Philipp Demandt is the son of the ancient historian Alexander Demandt and grandson of the Hessian state historian Karl Ernst Demandt. Due to his father's appointment as a professor of ancient history at the Friedrich Meinecke Institute of the Free University of Berlin, the family moved to West Berlin in 1975. Philipp Demandt studied art history, classical archaeology, and communication studies, completing his studies in 2001 at the Institute for History and Cultural Studies of the Free University of Berlin with a doctorate on ''The Historical Mythology of the Prussian State Reflected in the "Luise Cult".'' Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (Luise Auguste Wilhelmine Amalie; 10 March 1776 – 19 July 1810) was Queen of Prussia as the wife of King Frederick William III. The couple's happy, though short-lived, marriage produced nine children, including the future monarchs Frederick William IV of Prussia and William I, German Emperor. Her legacy became cemented after her extraordinary 1807 meeting with French Emperor Napoleon I at Tilsit – she met with him to plead unsuccessfully for favorable terms after Prussia's disastrous losses in the War of the Fourth Coalition. Wilhelm Kuhnert
Friedrich Wilhelm Karl Kuhnert (September 18, 1865 – February 11, 1926) was a German painter, author and illustrator, who specialized in animal images. After illustrating the books of Alfred Brehm, he travelled to German East Africa to observe animals in their habitat and produced numerous paintings that defined Africa for many Germans of the period. Life and work Kuhnert was born in Oppeln in 1865. After the end of his technical-commercial apprenticeship at the age of 17, Kuhnert was a scholarship student at the Berlin University of the Arts from 1883 to 1887. Rembrandt Bugatti (16 October 1884 – 8 January 1916) was an Italian sculptor, known primarily for his bronze sculptures of wildlife subjects. During World War I, he volunteered for paramedical work at a military hospital in Antwerp, an experience that triggered in Bugatti the onset of depression, aggravated by financial problems, which eventually caused him to commit suicide on 8 January 1916 in Paris, France when he was 31 years old.
