Philip Guard
Philip John Guard (29 November 1928 – May 2024) was an English stage actor who occasionally appeared in film and television. Life and career Philip John Guard was born in Rochford, Essex, on 29 November 1928. Guard appeared occasionally in film and television, but has been more prolific on stage. In 1956, he married the actress Charlotte Mitchell; they separated in 1968. Their sons are the actors Christopher Guard and Dominic Guard, and daughter Candy Guard, a writer and animator. Guard appeared, unwittingly, alongside Mark Dignam and John Bryning, on the fade-out of The Beatles' song "I Am the Walrus," on which a 1967 BBC radio broadcast of ''King Lear'' can be heard with Guard playing "Edgar." Rochford is a town and civil parish in the Rochford (district), Rochford District in Essex, England, north of Southend-on-Sea, from London and from Chelmsford. Charlotte Mitchell
Charlotte Mitchell (born Edna Winifred Mitchell; 23 July 1926 – 2 May 2012) was an English actress and poet. Biography In the 1950s she provided lyrics, sketches, and occasionally acted in revues on London's West End. She was especially successful in her ventures providing lyrics for Madeleine Dring in ''Airs on a Shoestring'' (1953), ''Pay the Piper'' (1954), and '' Fresh Airs'' (1956), all productions of Laurier Lister. Christopher Guard (born 5 December 1953) is an English actor, musician and artist. Dominic Guard (born 18 June 1956) is an English child psychotherapist and author, formerly an actor. Early life Guard was born in London on 18 June 1956. His father, Philip Guard, was an English stage actor, his mother, Charlotte Mitchell, an actress and poet. His older brother Christopher, also an actor, was born in 1953. His parents separated when he was twelve. As a 14-year-old, in '' The Go-Between'' (1971), Guard played Leo Colston, the title character who runs messages between two secret lovers and has a momentous 13th birthday. For his performance he won a BAFTA Award in 1971 as Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles. The film won the ''Palme d'Or'', the main prize at the Cannes film festival. Candy Guard
''Pond Life'' is a British adult animated television series that was created, written, animated produced and directed by comedian and animator Candy Guard and follows the misadventures of its neurotic and self-obsessed protagonist, Dolly Pond. Two series were broadcast on Channel 4 in 1996 and 2000. A series of 13x11minute episodes was screened from 3 to 18 December 1996, mainly at 5.45pm, but two episodes exploring more adult themes were reserved for a double screening at 11.25pm. This series was repeated between March and June 1998. A second series of 7x30minute episodes followed between 19–30 September 2000 to tie-in with Channel 4's ''Animation Week'' of 23–29 September 2000. Mark Dignam
Cuthbert Mark Dignam (20 March 1909 – 29 September 1989) was an English actor. Born in London, the son of a salesman in the steel industry, Dignam grew up in Sheffield, and was educated at the Jesuit College, where he appeared in numerous Shakespearean plays. He learned his craft touring Britain and America with Ben Greet's Shakespeare company. His range extended from the Louis Macneice radio play, ''The Dark Tower'' in the 1940s to the TV thriller, '' The XYY Man'' in the late 1970s. I Am The Walrus
"I Am the Walrus" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1967 television film ''Magical Mystery Tour (film), Magical Mystery Tour''. Written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon–McCartney, it was released as the B-side to the single "Hello, Goodbye" and on the ''Magical Mystery Tour'' EP and album. In the film, the song underscores a segment in which the band lip sync, mime to the recording at a deserted airfield. Lennon wrote the song to confound listeners who had been affording serious scholarly interpretations of the Beatles' lyrics. He was partly inspired by two Psychedelic experience, LSD trips and Lewis Carroll's 1871 poem "The Walrus and the Carpenter".
