Phil Sarboe
Philip John Sarboe (August 22, 1911 – November 19, 1985) was an American football player and coach. He played college football at the State College of Washington — now Washington State University — and professionally in National Football League (NFL) with the Boston Redskins, Chicago Cardinals, and Brooklyn Dodgers. Sarboe served as the head football coach at Central Washington College of Education — now Central Washington University—from 1941 to 1942, Washington State from 1945 to 1949, Humboldt State College — now California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt — from 1951 to 1965, and the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1966, compiling a career college football record of . The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and Rainbow Wāhine are the athletic teams that represent the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UH), in Honolulu, Hawaii. 1949 Washington State Cougars Football Team
The 1949 Washington State Cougars football team was an American football team that represented Washington State College during the 1949 college football season. In his fifth and final year as head coach, Phil Sarboe led the team to a 2–6 mark in the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) and 3–6 overall. The Cougars' four home games were played on campus in Pullman at Rogers Field, with a nearby road game in Moscow against Palouse neighbor Idaho. Washington State opened with two wins at home but ended the season on a four-game losing streak. Sarboe resigned after the season in early December, then coached at North Central High School in Spokane. He was succeeded at WSC in late January by 31-year-old Forest Evashevski, the backfield coach at Michigan State under Biggie Munn and a former back at Michigan under Fritz Crisler. 1945 Washington State Cougars Football Team
The 1945 Washington State Cougars football team was an American football team that represented Washington State College in the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) during the 1945 college football season. First-year head coach Phil Sarboe led the team to a 6–2–1 mark in the PCC and 6–2–1 overall. The season marked the resumption of play after the conclusion of World War II; the Cougars last fielded a team in 1942. All of the games this season were within the conference. List Of All-Pac-12 Conference Football Teams
The All-Pac-12 football team is an annual Pac-12 Conference honor bestowed on the best players in the conference following every college football season. Pac-12 coaches select first and second teams that each typically consists of 11 offensive players (a quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, a tight end, and five offensive linemen), 11 defensive players (four defensive linemen, three linebackers, and four defensive backs), and four specialists (a punter, a kicker, a return specialist, and a special teams player).
