Phil Martelli Jr.
Philip Martelli Jr. (born August 2, 1981) is an American college basketball coach, currently serving as the head men's basketball coach of the VCU Rams in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Playing career Martelli Jr., an alumnus of Saint Joseph's University (SJU) class of 2003, participated as a four-year player for the Hawks. He was a key member of the teams that achieved NCAA tournament appearances in both 2001 and 2003. Serving as a team co-captain alongside Jameer Nelson during the 2002–03 season, Martelli earned his bachelor's degree in marketing from SJU. Coaching career Martelli Jr. began his coaching journey in 2003 at Central Connecticut, becoming the youngest full-time assistant coach in Division I at the age of 22. VCU Rams Men's Basketball
The VCU Rams men's basketball team is the intercollegiate men's basketball team that represents Virginia Commonwealth University. The Rams joined the Atlantic 10 Conference in the 2012–13 season after previously competing in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). In 2017, VCU was ranked the 40th most valuable men's basketball program in the country by ''The Wall Street Journal''. With a valuation of $56.9 million, VCU ranked second in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and second in the A-10 Conference. Atlantic 10 Conference
The Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) is a collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference whose schools compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) NCAA Division I, Division I. The A-10's member schools are located mostly on the East Coast of the United States, East Coast and Midwestern United States, Midwest of the United States: Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York (state), New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Although some of its members are state-funded, half of its membership is made up of private, Catholic Church, Catholic institutions. 2024 America East Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2024 America East Men's Basketball Conference tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the America East Conference. It was held March 9–16, 2024, at campus sites of the higher seeds. The winner, 2023–24 Vermont Catamounts men's basketball team, Vermont, received the conference's automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, 2024 NCAA Tournament. The tournament was sponsored by Jersey Mike's Subs. Seeds Eight of the nine America East teams qualified for the tournament. 2023–24 Bryant Bulldogs Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Bryant Bulldogs men's basketball team represented Bryant University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs, led by first-year head coach Phil Martelli Jr., played their home games at the Chace Athletic Center in Smithfield, Rhode Island as members of the America East Conference. On November 13, after being placed on leave in September, head coach Jared Grasso announced his resignation, with assistant coach Phil Martelli Jr. initially being named the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2023–24 season. Two days later, the interim tag was removed from Martelli and he was officially named head coach. Jared Keith Grasso (born May 11, 1980) is an American basketball coach who currently is the head coach at The Knox School. A former college basketball coach, Grasso was most recently the head coach of the Bryant Bulldogs men's basketball team from 2018 to 2023. Playing career Grasso was a four year starter and two time captain at Quinnipiac, where he ranks sixth all-time in assists, sixth all-time in three-point field goals, and sixth all-time in minutes played. Devon Marquis Saddler (born October 27, 1992) is an American-born, naturalized Belarusian former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the University of Delaware before playing professionally in Italy, Greece, Hungary, Belarus and Israel.
