Phil Lambert
Phillip Lambert (1 July 1950 – 25 July 2021) was an Australian television identity. Biography He was notable for his long association with the Nine Network's Melbourne station GTV9 where he worked from 1969 to 2019, becoming the station's longest serving employee. Throughout his 50 years at the station, Lambert worked chiefly as a camera operator and as a floor manager on numerous Channel 9 productions, working with a range of well known personalities including Graham Kennedy, Don Lane and Bert Newton. However, he is arguably best known for his regular unscripted on-screen appearances during segments on the station's long running national variety program ''Hey Hey It's Saturday ''Hey Hey It's Saturday'' is a long-running variety television program on Australian television. Somers Carroll Productions is an Australian television production company. Somers Carroll was formed by Daryl Somers and Ernie Carroll, to produce ''Hey Hey It's Saturday'', after original producer Gavin Disney left the series. ''Hey Hey It's Saturday'' is a long-running variety television program on Australian television. It initially ran for 28 years on the Nine Network from 9 October 1971 to 20 November 1999, with a recess in 1978. Its host throughout its entire run was Daryl Somers, who later also became executive producer of the program. The original producer, Gavan Disney, left the program in December 1990 and Somers then formed a production company, Somers Carroll Productions, with comedy writer and on-screen partner Ernie Carroll, the performer of Somers' pink ostrich puppet sidekick Ossie Ostrich. Carroll retired in 1994, and Ossie was no longer featured in the show. On 25 July 2009, the Nine Network announced the show would return for two reunion specials in late 2009 and hinted if they rated strongly, the show could return full-time. Bert Newton
Albert Watson Newton (23 July 1938 – 30 October 2021) was an Australian media personality. He was a Logie Hall of Fame inductee, quadruple Gold Logie–winning entertainer, and radio, theatre and television personality and compère. Newton was known for his collaborations opposite Graham Kennedy and subsequently Don Lane on their respective variety shows, and appearances with his wife, singer Patti Newton. TV Tonight is an Australian-based website which features reviews, news and programming information related to television in Australia as well as OzTAM ratings information. The site was started by television critic David Knox in 2007 after listeners of his radio programs asked him for information they had missed. GTV is a commercial television station in Melbourne, Australia, owned by the Nine Network. The station is currently based at studios at 717 Bourke Street, Docklands, Victoria, Docklands. GTV-9 is the home of the Australian Open tennis coverage. History GTV-9 was amongst the first television stations to begin regular transmission in Australia. Test transmissions began on 27 September 1956, introduced by former 3DB (Melbourne), 3DB radio announcer Geoff Corke, based at the Mount Dandenong transmitter, as the studios in Richmond were not yet ready.
