Phidim
Phidim Municipality is the headquarters of Panchthar District in the Koshi Province of eastern Nepal. Its old name is Pheden, which in Limbu langauage means land on top of hills. Phidim was the capital of Panthar Thum of Limbuwan and was upgraded from a village to a municipality when a development committee merged with other VDCs (Village development committee (Nepal), village development committees) - including Phidim Chokmagu and Siwa, Panchthar, Siwa villages - on May 18, 2014. It offers a route for trekkers and locals to and from the Taplejung district bordering the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China. It is also a commercial hub for the rural surroundings. Transport Phidim is connected to the rest of the country via the Mechi Highway, a road that begins in Charali of Jhapa district and ends in Taplejung, Phungling. Panchthar District
Panthar District () is one of 14 districts of Koshi Province in the eastern hilly region of Nepal. It is a Hill district of eastern Nepal. The district covers of area. The 2011 census counted 191,817 population. Phidim is the district headquarters. History Panthar was a part of Old Dhankuta District during Rana era and until 1962. Dhankuta district had two subdivisions Chhathum and Tehrathum. Panchthar was a thum (county) under the Terhathum subvision. It became a separate district in 1962 when the old 32 traditional districts divided into 75 district. Mechi Highway
Mechi Highway or NH02 (previously: H07) () is a two-lane freeway in Koshi Province, spanning about 268 kilometers in length. The highway connects all the districts of former Mechi zone, hence the name ''Mechi''. It runs from the Village Development Committee of Kechana in Jhapa district in the south to the remote north of Taplejung through the district of Ilam. The main destinations along the highway include Kechana, Baniyani, Prithivinagar, Bhadrapur, Duhagadhi, Budhabare, Kanyam and Phikkal. The highway shares a junction with Mahendra Highway at Charali. The Mechi Highway extends from the Terai region of Nepal to the high Himalayas, connecting India in the south and China in the north. Ilam, Nepal
Ilam ( ) is one of four urban municipalities of Ilam District, which lies in the Lower Himalayan Range, Mahabharata hilly range of Koshi Province, eastern Nepal. Ilam also acts as the headquarters of Ilam District. Being the largest producer region for Nepali tea, its tea farms are a major tourist attraction in Koshi Province. Limbu People
The Limbu (Limbu language, Limbu: ) are a Sino-Tibetan ethnolinguistic group indigenous to the Himalayan region of eastern Nepal, northeastern India and western Bhutan. In India, the Limbus live in the Indian state, states of Sikkim, Assam, Nagaland and northern West Bengal, i.e. North Bengal. Subba is a title given by the Shah Kings only to Limbu village chiefs. Subba was not an indigenous Limbu terminology, but now the two terms are almost interchangeable. It was how the village chiefs were distinguished from other villagers in Limbu tribe. Birtamod
Birtamod ( Nepali: बिर्तामोड नगरपालिका) is a municipality in Jhapa District of Nepal. It is the commercial, educational and transport hub of Jhapa District.
