Phallucy
Phallucy is an American rock band from Sacramento, California. The band's drummer, Abe Cunningham, later became the drummer with the band Deftones. Phallucy has reunited three times: in 1999, 2001 and finally in 2009 for the ''Chi Cheng Benefit Show'' in San Francisco along with Death Angel and other special guests. History Phallucy was a band from Sacramento formed in 1987. The band's name is a combination of the words "fallacy" and "phallus". Original members include Sonny Mayugba (guitar) and David Garcia (vocals). By 1993 the band, which then featured drummer Abe Cunningham, recorded a CD titled ''Valium''. Before the release of the CD, Cunningham left to rejoin Deftones. Mayugba went on to publish ''Heckler'' magazine. Abe Cunningham
Abraham "Abe" Benjamin Cunningham (born July 27, 1973) is an American musician, best known as the drummer of the alternative metal band Deftones. Early life Abe Cunningham was born in Long Beach, California. When he was young, his family moved to Sacramento. He first started drumming in his early teens playing the drums for the band Phallucy in the early 1990s. During this time, he also drummed for Deftones on the side, when the band was having problems landing a permanent and dedicated drummer. At the time when he started learning drums, he also learned how to play guitar, but growing up with a stepfather (Neil) who played the drums, he took a deeper passion with the drums. Abe's father, Sid, was also a musician and an early influence for Abe before his untimely passing. His influences include Stewart Copeland, Ginger Baker and Mitch Mitchell. Deftones
Deftones is an American alternative metal band formed in Sacramento, California in 1988. They were formed by frontman Chino Moreno, lead guitarist Stephen Carpenter and drummer Abe Cunningham, with bassist Chi Cheng and keyboardist and turntablist Frank Delgado joining the line-up in 1990 and 1999, respectively. The band's experimental nature has led some critics to describe them as "the Radiohead of metal". After the line-up settled in 1993, the band secured a recording contract with Maverick Records, and subsequently released their debut album ''Adrenaline'' in 1995. Extensive touring and word-of-mouth promotion of the album helped Deftones garner a dedicated fan base. Alternative Metal
Alternative metal (also known as alt-metal) is a genre of heavy metal music that combines heavy metal with influences from alternative rock and other genres not normally associated with metal. Death Angel
Death Angel is an American thrash metal band from Daly City, California, initially active from 1982 to 1991 and again since 2001. They have released nine studio albums, two demo tapes, one box set and three live albums.
