Pfarrkirchen
Pfarrkirchen is a municipality in southern Lower Bavaria Germany, the capital of the district Rottal-Inn. It has about 12,500 inhabitants and is an important school centre with about 10,000 pupils from all over Lower Bavaria. The town spreads over an area of about 52 square kilometers and lies approximately 377 meters above sea level. Pfarrkirchen lies at the small river " Rott", which gives the "Rottal" region its name. One of Pfarrkirchen's important industries include abattoirs which is due to the rural environment. History The first settlers came to Pfarrkirchen some 7,000 years ago, as excavations in Untergaiching (a small suburb) prove. The first official written document where the name "Pharrachiricha" is mentioned, appeared in between 875 and 899 AD by the Catholic Bishop "Engilmar". The name means "parish church". Conrad Fink
Conrad Warmund Christian Maria Fink (7 July 1900, Munich - 25 July 1981) was a German librarian and politician who represented the Bavaria Party and the Christian Social Union of Bavaria. He was district administrator for Pfarrkirchen and from 1949 to 1953 a Member of the Deutscher Bundestag. Life and work After attending elementary school and graduating from high school in Munich, Fink embarked on a degree in philosophy, religion, science, and the History of Art at the universities of Munich and Marburg and was subsequently awarded a Doctorate in Philosophy. Following his academic career Fink worked in a bookshop and a scientific library, rising to the position in the latter field of chief advisor. During the period of National Socialist rule Fink was placed under surveillance by the Gestapo between the years 1937 and 1945. Rott (Inn, Neuhaus Am Inn)
The Rott is a river in Bavaria, Germany, left tributary of the Inn. Its source is in the municipality Wurmsham in Lower Bavaria, between Landshut and Waldkraiburg. It flows east through a rural area with small towns, including Neumarkt-Sankt Veit, Eggenfelden, Pfarrkirchen and Pocking.
