Peć
Peja or Peć, ), is the fifth most populous city in Kosovo and serves as the seat of the Peja Municipality and the District of Peja. It is located in the Rugova (region), Rugova region on the eastern section of the Accursed Mountains along the Peja Bistrica, Peja's Lumbardh in the western part of Kosovo. In medieval times, the city was under Byzantine, Bulgarian and Serbian rule. After its integration into Serbian territory, it became the seat of the Serbian Orthodox Church in 1346. The Patriarchate of Peć (monastery), Patriarchal monastery of Peć is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Medieval Monuments in Kosovo. The Serbian Orthodox Church ( sr-Cyrl-Latn, Српска православна црква, Srpska pravoslavna crkva) is one of the autocephalous (ecclesiastically independent) Eastern Orthodoxy, Eastern Orthodox Eastern Orthodox Church#Constituencies, Christian churches. Peja Bistrica
The Lumbardhi i Pejës, or Peja Bistrica or Peć Bistrica (; ), is a river in Kosovo. This 62 km-long right tributary to the White Drin river flows entirely within the south-western part of Kosovo. Name The river's name, Lumbardh, literally translates to White River in Albanian. The adjective, ''i Pejës'', differentiates it from the other Lumbardh tributaries of the White Drin () in the Dukagjini area. The name ''Bistrica'' means "clearwater" in Serbian. The adjective ''Pećka'' derived from "Peć", the Serbian version of Peja. Medieval Monuments In Kosovo
The Medieval Monuments in Kosovo ( sr-Cyrl-Latn, Средњовековни споменици на Косову, Srednjovekovni spomenici na Kosovu, ) are a World Heritage Site consisting of four Serbian Orthodox Christian churches and monasteries which represent the fusion of the eastern Orthodox Byzantine and the western Romanesque ecclesiastical architecture to form the Palaiologian Renaissance style. The construction was founded by members of Nemanjić dynasty, the most important dynasty of Serbia in the Middle Ages. The sites are located in Kosovo. In 2004, UNESCO recognized the Dečani Monastery for its outstanding universal value. The District of Peja (, ) is one of the seven districts of Kosovo. It has its seat in the city of Peja. The district has three municipalities and 118 other settlements. According to the 2024 census, the district had 146,301 inhabitants, and is the least populated of all the districts of Kosovo. Gazmend Muhaxheri
Gazmend Muhaxheri (born 27 September 1964) is a politician in Kosovo. He served in the Assembly of Kosovo from 2004 to 2007 with the Reformist Party ORA and has been the mayor of Peja since 2013 as a member of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK). He is a nephew of Ymer Muhaxheri, who was a prominent LDK politician in Peja in the 1990s. Private career Muhaxheri is a construction engineer.
