Peyton Nicole Booker, known professionally as Peyton, is an American singer-songwriter from Houston, Texas. Early life Peyton was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She began learning the violin at five and grew up singing in church every Sunday and performing in classical ensembles. Peyton's late grandmother, Theola Booker, was a formative inspiration who not only composed and arranged music for renowned gospel musician Reverend James Cleveland, of which she received a Grammy Award nomination for her work behind the scenes, but also taught piano for decades at Peyton's elementary school. Musical career In 2015, Peyton collaborated with Steve Lacy of The Internet for the track ‘Verbs’, and in that same year she released her debut EP ''Roller Coaster''. Peyton is an unincorporated town, a post office, and a census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by El Paso County, Colorado, United States. The CDP is a part of the Colorado Springs, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Peyton post office has the ZIP Code 80831. At the United States Census 2020, the population of the Peyton CDP was 214. The nearby unincorporated area of Falcon also uses zip code 80831. Peyton is a ghost town in Tunica County, Mississippi, United States. Once a thriving port on the Mississippi River, Peyton today is covered by farmfield, forest, and a portion of the Mississippi Levee. Nothing remains of the original settlement but a church called “Rising Sun Baptist Church”. Where some original members and decedents of original members still attend. Peyton, Texas
Peyton is an unincorporated community in Blanco County, in the U.S. state of Texas. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 30 in 2000. History Established by formerly enslaved people around 1865, the community was named for Peyton Roberts, one of the founders. Peyton was also known by the names Payton, Peyton Colony, and Boardhouse (because the post office was located in A.V. Walker's house made of board, which became the first in the community). After he was emancipated, Peyton Roberts left Lockhart for the area that would become Peyton. Roberts acquired the land through preemption, and other early residents would follow suit. Even though preemption ended in 1876, land grants continued to be issued as late as 1880. Peyton had its own post office from 1898 to 1909 and again from 1918 to 1930. Parkland is a town in Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,240 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated communities of Cutter, Parkland, Peyton, South Itasca, Sunnyside and South Range are in the town. Fort Peyton
Fort Peyton was a stockaded fort built in August 1837 by the United States Army, one of a chain of Outpost (military), military outposts created during the Second Seminole War for the protection of the St. Augustine, Florida, St. Augustine area in Florida Territory. Established by Maj. Gen. Thomas Jesup, it was garrisoned by regular army troops. The fort stood about seven miles southwest of St. Augustine, on the south side of Moultrie Creek, where the Treaty of Moultrie Creek had been signed in 1823 between the government of the United States and the chiefs of several bands of Seminoles living in the territory. Baker Stadium
Peyton Field at Baker Stadium is a 3,500-seat outdoor multi-purpose stadium on the campus of the University of Puget Sound in the North Tacoma, north end of Tacoma, Washington, United States. It is used by the UPS Logger American football, football, soccer, track and field, cross country running, cross country, and lacrosse teams. The stadium opened on September 26, 1964, with covered seating for 3,300 spectators and an additional 2,500 bleacher seats. It was the first stadium for the UPS football program and was built with a grant from prominent Tacoma businessman John S. Baker; the field is named after former Puget Sound alumni Joe Peyton, who was a long-time coach and faculty member. The stadium has covered seating of 3,000 and uncovered seating of 500. There have been five baronetcies created for members of the old established family of Peyton of Peyton Hall in the parish of Boxford in Suffolk, all of whom were descended from Sir Robert Peyton (d. 1518) of Isleham in Cambridgeshire, grandson and heir of Thomas Peyton (1418–1484) of Isleham, twice Sheriff of Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire, in 1443 and 1453. All the baronetcies are extinct. The Peyton Baronetcy, of Isleham in the County of Cambridge, was created in the Baronetage of England on 22 May 1611 for John Peyton, a great-grandson of Sir Robert Peyton. The first and second Baronets both served as Member of Parliament for Cambridgeshire. This Baronetcy was extinct in 1815 on the death of the 8th Baronet. Peyton Company
The Peyton Company, also called Peyton Marine Service and Supplies, was a wooden shipbuilding and dry dock company in Newport Beach, California. The shipyard was started by J. W. Peyton (1875-?), born in Texas, and his wife Anabel Peyton (1886-?). The shipyard was later owned by his sons, C. R. Peyton (1911-?) and R. P. Peyton (1919-?), a naval architect. The Peyton Company purchased the shipyard from the Balboa Marina Hardware Company, owned by Westin T. Jay. The Peyton Company built civilian boats, yachts and fishing boats, in Newport Harbor. To support the World War II demand for ships, the Peyton Company shipyard switched over to military construction and built Army harbor tugboats and Navy sub chasers. The Peyton Company leased Newport Harbor waterfront land to build these ships. After the war, in 1945 the shipyard closed, partly due to the two deaths in the family.
