Petros Christou
Petros Christou ( el, Πέτρος Χρήστου, 1887 - 21 June 1908) was a Greeks, Greek chieftain of the Macedonian Struggle. Biography Christou was born in 1887 in Velušina, then Ottoman Empire (now North Macedonia, Republic of North Macedonia). He served as a teacher in Gradešnica. Later, he joined the armed group of Crete, Cretan G. Volanis, where he was distinguished for his leadership abilities. He also collaborated with G. Dikonomos Makris. Velušina
Velušina ( mk, Велушина, sq, Vellushinë) is a village in the Municipalities of North Macedonia, municipality of Bitola Municipality, Bitola, North Macedonia. It used to be part of the former municipality of Bistrica, Bitola, Bistrica. Velušina is located 15 kilometers south of Bitola (Битола) on route R2333 (about six kilometers north of the border with Greece) at the foot of Mount Baba in the Pelagonia, Pelagonija (Пелагонија) Valley. Georgios Tsontos
Georgios Tsontos ( el, Γεώργιος Τσόντος) (1871-1942) also known with the ''nom de guerre'' Kapetan Vardas (Καπετάν Βάρδας), was a Greek guerrilla fighter, general, and later politician from Crete. Early life Georgios Tsontos was born in the village of Askifou in Sfakia, Crete, in 1871. His father Charalambos had distinguished himself as a rebel leader during the Cretan Revolt (1866–69) against the Ottoman Empire, was assassinated in Athens in 1874. Georgios entered the Hellenic Military Academy in 1888, graduating in 1893 as an Artillery Second Lieutenant. Military career In the Greco-Turkish War of 1897, he participated in the Greek expeditionary force to Crete under Colonel Timoleon Vassos. There he would assist in the Cretan Revolt (1897-1898) which would lead to the establishment of the Cretan State. Florina ( el, Φλώρινα, ''Flórina''; known also by some alternative names) is a town and municipality in the mountainous northwestern Macedonia, Greece. Its motto is, 'Where Greece begins'. Nymfaio ( el, Νυμφαίο, before 1926: Νέβεσκα - ''Neveska'', rup, Nevesca) and in Ancient Greece: Νυμφαῖον or Νύμφαιον (9th century bc), is a village and a former community in Florina regional unit, Western Macedonia, Greece. Bukovo
Bukovo ( mk, Буково, pronounced ) is a village in the Bitola municipality approximately three kilometers' distance from the city of Bitola in North Macedonia. Not unlike most other larger villages in the country, locals typically distinguish an "upper" (''горна'') and "lower" (''долна'') quarter ('' маала''). Historically, the latter developed from the expansion of the former. Pavlos Rakovitis
Pavlos Nikolaidis ( gr, Παύλος Νικολαΐδης), known by his ''nom de guerre'' Rakovitis (Παύλος Ρακοβίτης, "Pavlos of Rakovo") was a member of the Hellenic Macedonian Committee, a revolutionary chieftain of a band of 40 guerrillas that fought in the Macedonian Struggle against the Bulgarians. Life Born in Rakovo, near Florina, Manastir Vilayet, Ottoman Empire (modern-day Kratero, Florina, Greece) around 1877. He was a Greek Macedonian. In 1900, he moved to the United States on seasonal work. While away, his village was burnt down by the Ottomans in 1903, upon which he began training in guerrilla tactics. Verno ( el, Βέρνο) or Vitsi ( el, Βίτσι) is a forested mountain range in the southern part of the Florina and the northeastern part of the Kastoria regional units in Western Macedonia, northern Greece. The elevation of its highest peak, Verno, is . It stretches from the village Trivouno in the northwest to Kleisoura in the southeast, over a length of about . Baba Mountain (North Macedonia)
Baba ( mk, Баба; or Baba Mountain, mk, Баба Планина, Baba Planina), or also known by the name of its highest peak, Pelister ( mk, Пелистер), is a mountain in North Macedonia.
