Petra Davies
Petra Davies (24 July 1930 – 22 March 2016) was a British actress. Early years Davies was born in Eltham, London, England on 24 July 1930 and grew up in Newport, Wales. Her parents were Welsh. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art 1947 – 1949. Career Davies had many television appearances and had worked in films and theatre. Her TV roles included appearances in '' Vanity Fair'', ''Precious Bane'', ''Destination Downing Street'', ''Emma'', ''Melissa'', '' ITV Play of the Week'', ''Dolly'', '' The Saint'', ''Z-Cars'', ''Crown Court'' and ''General Hospital''. Eltham ( ) is a district of southeast London, England, within the Royal Borough of Greenwich. It is east-southeast of Charing Cross, and is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London. The three wards of Eltham North, South and West have a total population of 35,459. 88,000 people live in Eltham. History Origins Eltham developed along part of the road from London to Maidstone, and lies almost due south of Woolwich. Mottingham, to the south, became part of the parish on the abolition of all extra-parochial areas, which were rare anomalies in the parish system. ''Four Days'' is a 1951 British second feature ('B') drama film directed by John Guillermin. It was written by Lindsay Galloway and J. MacLaren Ross based on the 1945 play of the same name by Monckton Hoffe. Plot Businessman Francis Templar suspects his neglected wife Lucienne of having an affair with his business partner's son Johnny. When the two of them confess, Templar refuses to give his wife a divorce and she retaliates by trying to poison him. Johnny however, intervenes, and manages to prevent the murder. During the next few days, Lucienne comes to realise she loves her husband after all; but Templar, believing his wife is about to leave him, attempts suicide by jumping off a cliff. ''The Ruth Rendell Mysteries'' is a British television crime drama series, produced by TVS and later by its successor Meridian Broadcasting, in association with Blue Heaven Productions, for broadcast on the ITV network. Twelve series were broadcast on ITV between 2 August 1987 and 11 October 2000. Created by author Ruth Rendell, the first six series focused entirely on her main literary character, Chief Inspector Reg Wexford, played by George Baker. Repeat airings of these series changed the programme's title to ''The Inspector Wexford Mysteries''. When Louise is found murdered, the circumstantial evidence points to Charles, who is arrested and convicted. Convinced that Charles is innocent, Kathy enlists the help of retired Police Commissioner Sir John Fawcett to investigate the case. They find the real murderer and Charles is released.
