Petra Bauer
Petra Bauer (born 1970) is a Swedish artist and filmmaker. She is Research Leader at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, Sweden. Her art intersects with political and social organizing, especially by women, and includes many collaborations with existing organizations. Art career Bauer's artwork is grounded in feminist theory and engages with issues including immigration, colonialism, and the history of women's efforts to organize themselves and their communities within the art world and beyond. Her research has engaged with the history of radical filmmaking, notably The Berwick Street Film Collective, Cinema Action and The London Women's Film Group; this has resulted in filmmaking collaborations with the Southall Black Sisters, a London-based group that organizes against violence and discrimination towards women. Southall Black Sisters (SBS) is a non-profit organisation based in Southall, West London, England. Zwarte Piet (; ; ; ), also known in English by the translated name Black Pete, is a companions of Saint Nicholas, companion of Saint Nicholas. (; ; ; ) in the folklore of the Low Countries. Traditionally, Zwarte Piet serves as an assistant to the saint and distributes sweets and gifts to well-behaved children. The depiction of Zwarte Piet has gone through several changes since the mid 19th century. The earliest known illustration of the character comes from an 1850 book by Amsterdam schoolteacher Jan Schenkman and portrays him as a Blackamoor (decorative arts), black Moor. Marina Vishmidt
Marina Vishmidt (May 6, 1976 – April 26, 2024) was an American writer, editor and critic. She lectured at the Centre for Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London in the MA program Culture Industry, and taught Art Theory in the MA Art Praxis at the Dutch Art Institute in Arnhem. Her research mainly concerned the relationship between art, value and labour. She further explored this through works on debt, social reproduction and artistic entrepreneurialism. In 2013, she completed her PhD entitled ''Speculation as a Mode of Production in Art and Capital'' at the Queen Mary University of London. In the Summer Semester, 2022, Vishmidt was thArnheim Visiting Professorat the Institut für Kunst- und Bildgeschichte at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
