Peter Wellings
Peter Edward Wellings (born 5 March 1970) is a former English cricketer. Wellings was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born at Wolverhampton, Staffordshire. After leaving Middlesex CCC, he has spent over 25 years coaching youngsters. He is an ECB Level III coach and has coached in various countries around the world, such as England, India, South Africa and the USA. He is known as "Coach Wello," by his students, and is known for his emphasis of fielding and fitness in his students. He currently resides in England. Middlesex Wellings made his first-class debut for Middlesex against Kent in the County Championship. From 1996 to 1997, he represented the county in 6 first-class matches, the last of which came against Sussex. He played with international players such as Mark Ramprakash and Mike Gatting. 2000 NatWest Trophy
The 2000 NatWest Trophy was the 20th and last NatWest Trophy before being renamed as the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy for the 2001 season. It was an English limited overs county cricket tournament which was held between 2 May and 26 August 2000. The tournament was won by Gloucestershire who defeated Warwickshire by 22 runs in the final at Lord's. Format The 18 first-class counties, were joined by all twenty Minor Counties, plus Huntingdonshire. The 1998 NatWest Trophy was the 18th NatWest Trophy. It was an English limited overs county cricket tournament which was held between 24 June and 5 September 1998. The tournament was won by Lancashire County Cricket Club who defeated Derbyshire County Cricket Club by 9 wickets in the final at Lord's. The National Counties Cricket Association Knockout Cup was started in 1983 as a knockout one-day competition for the National Counties in English cricket. At first it was known as the ''English Industrial Estates Cup'', before being called the ''Minor Counties Knock Out Competition'' from 1986 to 1987, the ''Holt Cup'' from 1988 to 1992, the ''MCC Trophy'' from 1993 to 1998, the ''ECB 38-County Cup'' from 1999 to 2002, the ''MCCA Knockout Trophy'' from 2003 to 2005. Minor Counties Championship
The NCCA 3 Day Championship (previously the Minor Counties Cricket Championship) is a season-long competition in England and Wales that is contested by the members of the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), the so-called national counties that do not have first-class status. History The competition began in 1895, with the Worcestershire honorary secretary Paul Foley being influential in its creation. Apart from the two World War periods, it has been contested annually ever since. From 2014 to 2019 the tournament was known as the Unicorns Championship.
