Peter Arnold Vogler (born 10 September 1964 in Ipswich, Queensland) is an Australian baseball coach and former player. Vogler represented Australia in the 1988 and 1996 Olympic Games. Baseball at the 1988 Summer Olympics was a demonstration sport for the seventh time. It would become an official sport 4 years later at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Eight teams competed in Jamsil Baseball Stadium in the baseball tournament. The format used was the same as the tournament of four years earlier. Baseball had its second appearance as an official medal sport at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States, with games played at Atlanta–Fulton County Stadium. Eight nations competed, with the preliminary phase consisting of each team playing every other team. Playoffs were then held, with the four highest ranked teams advancing. For the semifinals, the 1st place team played the 4th place team and the 2nd place team played against the 3rd place team. The winners of those semifinals competed against each other for the gold medal, with the loser getting the silver medal. The teams defeated in the semifinal played a match for the bronze medal. Brian Vogler
Brian "Chookie" Vogler (30 May 1932 in Ipswich, Queensland – 6 May 2009 in Gold Coast, Queensland) was an Australian international footballer and coal miner. Biography He spent his childhood in North Ipswich attending local Catholic schools before becoming a coal miner, a profession he followed for 43 years. Vogler began his sporting career as a professional rugby league footballer before switching to football. He played senior football in Queensland for Blackstone and Hellenic during the 1950s and 1960s. Later he would be a competitive cricketer and lawn bowler. Although selected in the Australian squad that competed at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, Brian didn't make his international debut until after the Games in a friendly match against India at the Sydney Sports Ground in December of the same year. The association football tournament at the 1956 Summer Olympics was won by the Soviet Union. Defending champions Hungary were forced to withdraw due to the Soviet invasion of their country. This was the first Olympic football tournament where all the medalists were communist countries, with Yugoslavia and Bulgaria took silver and bronze respectively.
