Peter Shpilenok
Peter Shpilenok (born 9 September 1984) is a Russian ecologist and environmental inspector, head of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve in 2017-2022. Resigned in 2022 in protest at the unfair criminal prosecution of colleagues in the " cleansing case". Biography Early years and family Peter was born on September 9, 1984, as the second son to Igor Shpilenok, a prominent Russian wildlife photographer and founder of the Bryansky Les Nature Reserve. Three generations of the Shpilenok family have been involved in nature conservation — Peter's grandfather, Peter Shpilenok Senior, was an inspector of the Bryansk Forest Reserve. Uncle Nikolai Shpilenok is a wildlife photographer who contributes to Geo and Vokrug sveta magazines. Peter's second uncle is a documentary filmmaker, he also worked as a state inspector and a member of the task force of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve. Bryansk (, ) is a types of inhabited localities in Russia, city and the administrative center of Bryansk Oblast, Russia, situated on the Desna (river), Desna River, southwest of Moscow. The Bryansk Forest Nature Reserve, also known as Bryansky Les (), is a nature reserve in Bryansk Oblast, Russia, along the Nerussa River (a tributary of the Desna River) near the Russian border with Ukraine. Laura Lynne Williams (May 21, 1969 – October 28, 2018) was a Russian-American ecologist, founder of the Russian World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) branch and WWF office on Kamchatka. She was also director of the Wild Salmon Center, as well as a journalist, writer, and equine-assisted therapist. Early life and education Williams was born in New York, May 21, 1969. Her parents were a lawyer and a doctor. For the first two years of her life, she lived in South Dakota where her father served in Rosebud Indian Reservation. When she turned two, her parents divorced and her mother took the children to Denver, Colorado. In 1978–1984, she attended Graland Country Day School. In 1984–87, she studied at the Fountain Valley School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She entered Cornell University in 1988.
