Peter Serry
Peter Serry (February 13, 1973, in Nairobi –January 28, 2009, in Nairobi) was a Kenyan football player, coach and administrator. As a youth player Serry played for Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA), which operates in the Mathare slum in Nairobi. Among other achievements, he was part of the team that won the U13 category at Norway Cup in 1995. Nairobi
Nairobi ( ) is the capital and largest city of Kenya. Football Kenya Limited (abbreviated as Football Kenya Ltd., Football Kenya or FKL) was the governing body of football in Kenya. It was founded in 2008 and was recognised by FIFA in the same year, taking over control of Kenyan football from the Kenya Football Federation. 2009 Nakumatt Supermarket Fire
The 2009 Nakumatt supermarket fire occurred when a supermarket in downtown Nairobi, Kenya, caught fire on 28 January 2009. Twenty-nine remains were located in the rubble of the destroyed Nakumatt supermarket, with police investigating a tip that security guards locked exit doors in an effort to prevent looting. However the locking of the doors on the ground floor had no effect on the victims, as they were all found on the floor above. The fire allegedly started near the only staircase accessible to the public, trapping the victims in the shop. One other man died after leaping from the building to escape the flames. Forty-seven people are still missing. The bodies of the dead are "charred beyond recognition". Official reports said one person died in the hospital from injuries brought on by poisonous fumes and injuries sustained in the inferno but another 39 were unaccounted for and were officially reported as "missing". Francis Kimanzi
Francis Kimanzi (born 29 May 1976) is a Kenyan football coach who manages Wazito. Playing career Kimanzi played club football for Mathare United between 1994 and 2002, before becoming manager. Coaching career Kimanzi was appointed full-time manager of the Kenyan national side on 11 December 2008, having held the post as a caretaker since May 2008. He was sacked from the post of national team coach after the 2008 CECAFA Cup in January 2009 due to disputes between him and Kenyan football administrators. After a one-year spell coaching club side Sofapaka, he was reappointed as head coach of the Kenyan national team in November 2011. Tusker FC
The Tusker Football Club is a professional football club based in Nairobi, Kenya. It is the second most successful club in Kenya with thirteen Kenyan league championships. They also have four Kenyan cup titles. In addition, it has won four East African CECAFA Clubs Cup titles. Formed in 1969, the club is sponsored by East African Breweries and its name refers to Tusker, a well-known beer brand by the company. The club was known as Kenya Breweries until 1999, when the current name was adopted. Tusker play some home games at the 15,000-capacity Kinoru Stadium in Meru.
