Peter Ovtcharov
Peter Ovtcharov (born December 31, 1981, in Leningrad) is a Russian classical pianist and composer currently residing in Seoul, South Korea. He studied at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg with German teacher Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and won several prizes and awards, including the Second Prize at the International Vladimir Krainev Competition in Kharkiv, Ukraine (1992), Silver Medaille at the 3rd International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians (ex aequo with Korean pianist Son Yeol-Eum, 1997), the First Prize at the National Austrian competition "Gradus ad Parnassum" (2004), Silvio Bengalli Piano Prize (Italy, 2004) and the Third Prize at the International Beethoven Competition in Vienna (2005). In 2006, he received the Luitpold Prize of the Year from the prestigious German festival " Kissinger Sommer". Teaching Recently, Peter Ovtcharov is a Professor of Yonsei University. Classical Piano
The piano is a stringed keyboard instrument in which the strings are struck by wooden hammers that are coated with a softer material (modern hammers are covered with dense wool felt; some early pianos used leather). It is played using a keyboard, which is a row of keys (small levers) that the performer presses down or strikes with the fingers and thumbs of both hands to cause the hammers to strike the strings. Karl-Heinz Kämmerling
Karl-Heinz Kämmerling (6 May 1930 – 14 June 2012) was a notable German academic teacher of classical pianists, who trained pianists at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover for careers as performers and academic teachers, particularly in the early training of highly gifted students. Career Kämmerling was born in Dessau and studied at the Hochschule für Musik Leipzig with Anton Rohden and Hugo Steurer. Besides teaching as a professor at the Mozarteum and in Hannover, he became a guest professor at the university of music in Zagreb in 2004 and taught master classes in Europe, the United States and Asia. Son Yeol-Eum
Yeol Eum Son (born May 2, 1986, in Wonju, South Korea) is a South Korean classical pianist. She first drew international attention in October 2004 at age 18 when she appeared as a soloist performing Liszt Piano Concerto No. 1 with the New York Philharmonic under the baton of Lorin Maazel on their Asia tour in Seoul, Daejeon, and Tokyo. Son again performed with Maazel and the New York Philharmonic when they returned to the Seoul Arts Center in February 2008, this time as soloist for Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 2. Kissinger Sommer
The Kissinger Sommer is a classical music festival held every year in the summer in the city of Bad Kissingen in Bavaria, Southern Germany. History The festival was founded in 1986. At the beginning the focus of the festival was on the improvement of the cultural relations between eastern and western Europe. Every year an east-european country was partner of the festival, beginning with Hungary in 1986. Poland, Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union followed. So the festival became a place where one could see artists from east and west, especially of the partner-countries and of East-Germany. The Palme d'Or (; en, Golden Palm) is the highest prize awarded at the Cannes Film Festival. It was introduced in 1955 by the festival's organizing committee.
