Peter Keir Lamb is a British Labour Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Crawley since 2024. He also served as leader of Crawley Borough Council until 2022. Henry Edward Millar Smith (born 14 May 1969) is an English Conservative Party politician. He was Leader of West Sussex County Council from 2003 to 2010. He is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Crawley, having been first elected in the 2010 general election. Education Smith was born on 14 May 1969 in Epsom, Surrey. Crawley Borough Council
Crawley Borough Council is the local authority for the borough of Crawley, in the county of West Sussex, England. The council consists of 35 councillors, either two or three for each of the 13 wards in the district. It is currently controlled by the Labour Party, led by Michael Jones. The administrative headquarters will be at the new Crawley Town Hall which is due to be completed in late 2022. History Crawley Urban District had been created in 1956, the council being "Crawley Urban District Council". The district was enlarged on 1 April 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, gaining territory ceded from the parishes of Charlwood, Horley, Slaugham and Worth, and becoming a non-metropolitan district. The 2019 United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday, 12 December 2019. It resulted in the Conservative Party receiving a landslide majority of 80 seats. The Conservatives made a net gain of 48 seats and won 43.6% of the popular vote – the highest percentage for any party since 1979. Having failed to obtain a majority in the 2017 general election, the Conservative Party had faced prolonged parliamentary deadlock over Brexit while it governed in minority with the support of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP).
