Peter Kember
Peter Kember (born 19 November 1965), also known by his stage name Sonic Boom, is an English singer-songwriter, composer and record producer. He was a founding member, vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist of neo-psychedelic band Spacemen 3, lasting from 1982 until the band's dissolution in 1991. He is now based in Sintra, Portugal. Kember has also led the musical projects Spectrum and E.A.R. (Experimental Audio Research), sometimes as the only member. He has played and collaborated with a number of artists, including Stereolab, Panda Bear, Yo La Tengo, and Sinner DC. He contributed production work on MGMT's second album ''Congratulations'', Panda Bear's's albums ''Tomboy'' and '' Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper'', and Beach House's album '' 7''. EAR (band)
Experimental Audio Research (commonly shortened to E.A.R. or EAR) is an experimental music collective formed around Peter Kember (a.k.a. Sonic Boom), formerly of Spacemen 3. While Spacemen 3 were a relatively traditional rock and roll band with strong experimental leanings, E.A.R. is essentially a free improvisation project, creating instrumental music characterized by lengthy, droning textures and slowly evolving structures. The line-up often included Sonic Boom (Spectrum, Spacemen 3), Kevin Martin (God), Kevin Shields ( My Bloody Valentine), and Eddie Prévost ( AMM). Past collaborators include Lawrence Chandler of Bowery Electric, Nick Kramer, Delia Derbyshire and Thomas Köner, plus various members of Spectrum, though it is generally considered a Kember solo project. Jason Pierce
Jason Andrew Pierce (born 19 November 1965 in Rugby) is an English musician. Currently the frontman and sole permanent member of the band Spiritualized, he previously co-fronted the alternative rock band Spacemen 3 with Peter Kember from 1982 until 1991. He has worked under the name J. Spaceman. Music In between his work with Spiritualized and Spacemen 3, Pierce has been active with a network of free jazz players and improvisers, collaborating with artists, including Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Dr. John, Primal Scream, Daniel Johnston and Yoko Ono. In 2006, Pierce released his first solo album, '' Guitar Loops'', a limited release on Coxon and Wales's Treader record label. Rugby School is a Public school (United Kingdom), private boarding school for pupils aged 13–18, located in the town of Rugby, Warwickshire in England. ''7'' is the seventh studio album by American dream pop band Beach House, released on May 11, 2018, through Sub Pop and Bella Union. It follows the ''B-Sides and Rarities (Beach House album), B-Sides and Rarities'' compilation album released in 2017, which served as a proverbial "cleaning out the closet" to pave the way for a new creative process. ''Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper'' is the fifth studio album by American recording artist Panda Bear (aka Noah Lennox). Coproduced by Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3, it was released on January 9, 2015, by the Domino Recording Company. ''Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper'' was preceded by the digital release of an extended play, '' Mr Noah'', and two singles, "Mr Noah" and "Boys Latin". ''Tomboy'' is the fourth studio album by American musician Panda Bear (aka Noah Lennox), released on April 4, 2011, initially as an online stream and later physically. It was mixed by UK musician Sonic Boom. ''Congratulations'' is the second studio album by American rock band MGMT. It was initially made available for free streaming through the band's website on March 20, 2010, prior to its official release on April 13 through Columbia Records. The album marks a departure from the synth-pop style that brought MGMT acclaim on their debut, '' Oracular Spectacular'', released three years prior, and features a more psychedelic, progressive and guitar-driven sound. Most of the songs were written by the band in early 2009. Yo La Tengo (Spanish language, Spanish for "I've got it"; also abbreviated as YLT) is an American indie rock band formed in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1984. Stereolab
Stereolab are an English people, Anglo-French avant-pop band formed in London in 1990. Led by the songwriting team of Tim Gane and Lætitia Sadier, the group's sound incorporates repetitive motorik beats with the use of vintage electronic keyboards and female vocals sung in English and French, drawing influences from krautrock, funk, jazz, 1960s Yé-yé, French pop and Brazilian music. Their lyrics have political and philosophical themes influenced by the Surrealist and Situationist International, Situationist art movements.
