Peter Jones (admiral)
Vice Admiral Peter David Jones, (born 1957) is a retired senior officer in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), who served as the Chief Capability Development Group (CCDG) from 2011 until his retirement in October 2014. He was succeeded as CCDG by Lieutenant General John Caligari. Early life and education Peter Jones was born in Sydney, New South Wales, to Patricia (née Matthews) and Lloyd Arthur Jones in 1957. He is married to Rhonda Payget with whom he has two sons. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from the University of New South Wales. He attended the six-week Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. Career Jones joined the Royal Australian Navy as a midshipman in 1974. Ray Griggs (admiral)
Vice Admiral Raymond James Griggs, (born July 1961) is an Australian senior public servant and a former senior officer in the Royal Australian Navy. He served as Chief of Navy (Australia), Chief of Navy from June 2011 to June 2014, before being appointed Vice Chief of the Defence Force (Australia), Vice Chief of the Defence Force until his transfer to the reserve in July 2018. Following his transfer to the reserves, Griggs held the appointment of the Associate Secretary of the Indigenous Affairs Group within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (Australia), Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, and was the inaugural CEO of the National Indigenous Australians Agency. Australian Active Service Medal
The Australian Active Service Medal (AASM) is an Australian military decoration. It was authorised on 13 September 1988 to recognise prescribed service in "warlike" operations, backdated to February 1975. It is awarded with a clasp to denote the prescribed operation and subsequent awards of the medal are made in the form of additional clasps.Maton 1995, p. 56. In 2012, it was announced that the medal would no longer be issued for future operations, with the AASM and the Australian Service Medal being replaced by the Australian Operational Service Medal. Description The AASM is a circular nickel-silver medal ensigned with the Crown of St Edward. The Australian Defence Medal is an Australian military decoration which recognises current and former Australian Defence Force personnel who completed an initial enlistment period, or four years' service. It was established on 20 March 2006; however, it recognises qualifying efficient service of current and former Australian Defence Force Regular and Reserve personnel, including National Servicemen, who have served since 3 September 1945.
