Peter Hocken
Peter Hocken (22 June 1932 – 10 June 2017) was a British theologian and historian of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and the Pentecostal movement in the twentieth century. Born in Brighton, England, Hocken was ordained a priest in the Roman Catholic Church for the Diocese of Northampton in 1964. He lectured in moral theology at Oscott College, Birmingham, England (1968 – 1976). He obtained permission to leave the country in order to join the Mother of God Community, Washington DC, United States, where he was an active member between 1976 and 1996. He regularly contributed to the community's devotional magazine, "The Word Among Us". In 1984, he received his PhD for his research on the history of charismatic renewal from the University of Birmingham, England. Hocken returned to England in 1997, becoming Chaplain to the Bishop of Northampton (1997 – 2001). In 2001, he received the title "Monsignor" at the request of Bishop Patrick Leo McCartie. Messianic Judaism
Messianic Judaism is a syncretic Abrahamic religious sect that combines Christian theology with select elements of Judaism. It considers itself to be a form of Judaism but is generally considered to be a form of Christianity, including by all mainstream Jewish religious movements. Mainstream Jews consider the belief that Jesus was the Messiah and a divine being in the form of God the Son (and the doctrine of the Trinity, in general) to be among the most defining distinctions between Christianity and Judaism. It is also generally considered a Christian sect by scholars and other Christian groups. The New International Dictionary Of Pentecostal And Charismatic Movements
''The New International Dictionary of Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements'' is a reference work on charismatic Christianity which includes the three streams of Pentecostalism, the Charismatic Movement, and the Neocharismatic movement. It is edited primarily by Stanley M. Burgess. Published in 2002, it is the "revised and expanded edition" of the 1988 ''Dictionary of Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements''. Both editions are published by Zondervan. The original edition states the contributors to the volume come from both within and without the movement(s), and a "balanced overview" is attempted. It concentrates on North America and Europe, where the movement originated; rather than Latin America, Africa, and Asia, where the majority of members are found. The revised and expanded edition again asserts a "balanced overview" and breadth of contributors.
