Peter H. Daly (U.S. Navy)
Peter Hasten Daly is a retired United States Navy Vice admiral (United States), vice admiral who served as Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, U.S. Fleet Forces Command. He was the CEO of the United States Naval Institute from 2011 until 2023. Personal life Daly was born in Chicago, Illinois. Daly graduated in 1977 from the College of the Holy Cross with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. In 1983 he earned a master's degree in Operations Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School. Career Upon graduation from College of the Holy Cross, Daly commissioned as an Ensign (rank), Ensign in the United States Navy through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps. Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps
The Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) program is a college-based, commissioned officer training program of the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps. Origins A pilot Naval Reserve unit was established in September 1924 at St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland. It let the Navy test the concept before establishing its regular units. In 1926, the U.S. Department of the Navy established the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps. Its purpose was to produce a reserve of qualified officers who would be needed for a possible rapid expansion of the military in the case of an unforeseen emergency.
