Peter Joseph Doyle (born 24 August 1973) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy in the Australian Football League (AFL). Doyle was initially drafted by Carlton, with their second pick and 21st overall in the 1989 National Draft. He served a long apprenticeship in the reserves but was delisted without making his senior debut. Instead he played senior football at Fitzroy, which selected him in the 1994 Pre-Season Draft. Peter Doyle Officer of the Order of the British Empire, OBE (1921–2004) was a British chemist. Career Doyle obtained his degree from the University of London in 1944. In 1952 he obtained a position at Beecham Laboratories in Betchworth, and became Director of Research at Beecham (pharmaceutical company), Beecham Pharmaceuticals in 1962. Along with Ralph Batchelor, George Rolinson, and John Nayler, he was part of the team at Betchworth that discovered and synthesised new penicillins. A List of Royal Society of Chemistry blue plaques, Royal Society of Chemistry blue plaque now marks this discovery. Doyle retired in 1983. Awards Doyle was given the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries' Gold Medal in Therapeutics in 1964 (awarded jointly with Dr. G N Rolinson). Peter John Doyle (28 July 1949 – 13 October 2001) was an Australian pop singer who had success with a number of Top 40 hits in Australia in the 1960s, then success internationally as a member of the New Seekers in the early 1970s, before resuming a solo career in 1973. Early career He started his career at the age of 9 appearing on a children's television talent show called Swallow's Juniors and appeared as a regular on that show for the next five years. At the age of 10 he made his first recording on a 78rpm acetate, "Lucky Devil"/"If Irish Eyes Were Shining". He lives in Newtown, New South Wales, and works for Macquarie University where he teaches Print Media Production and as a part-time curator of Sydney’s Justice and Police Museum. Biography Peter Doyle was born in Maroubra, Sydney, New South Wales, and grew up in Sydney's eastern suburbs, which provides much of the setting for his fiction work. He has a Bachelor of Arts (Communications) from UTS and a PhD in Media and Mass Communications on the renderings of virtual space in early popular music recording from Macquarie University (2002). Peter Doyle (December 8, 1844 – October 27, 1900) was an Irish-American politician from the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Biography Born in Myshall, County Carlow, Ireland, Doyle moved with his parents to Franklin, Wisconsin, in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin in 1850. Doyle taught school and studied law in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He served as that state's eleventh Secretary of State, serving for two terms from January 5, 1874 to January 7, 1878. He was a Democrat and served under governors William Robert Taylor and Harrison Ludington. He also served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from Crawford County, Wisconsin in 1873. He resided in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin at the time of his election and served as secretary to John Lawler and Hercules Dousman. From 1884 to 1900, Doyle practiced law in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Peter George Doyle (June 1843April 19, 1907) was an Irish-born American transit worker, known for being an intimate companion of Walt Whitman from around 1865 to 1876, and to some extent to Whitman's death in 1892. Doyle also witnessed the assassination of Abraham Lincoln in 1865. Biography Peter George Doyle was born in early June 1843 in Ireland to Peter George Doyle, a blacksmith, and Catherine Nash Doyle, the sixth of nine children. He was baptized on June 16, 1843, in Limerick. He moved with members of his family to Alexandria, Virginia, in 1853, travelling through Baltimore which they reached on May 10.
