Peter Davidson (footballer)
Peter Davidson (born 29 August 1963) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the West Coast Eagles and Brisbane Bears in the Victorian/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL). Davidson was signed up by West Coast for their inaugural season in 1987 after strong performances in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) for Claremont, with whom he won a 'Fairest and Best' award in 1985. He had also represented Western Australia in an interstate match against Victoria at Subiaco in 1986. At West Coast, Davidson suffered from soft tissue injuries and managed just two appearances, prompting him to retire from the VFL at the end of the season. However Davidson returned in 1990 with Brisbane and in his first game kicked two goals against Geelong. Peter Wylie Davidson
Peter Wylie Davidson (1870–1963) was a Scottish sculptor and silversmith who taught decorative metalwork at the Glasgow School of Art from 1897 to 1935. Early life Peter Wylie Davidson was born in Bridge of Allan in 1870. He was a student at the Glasgow School of Art from 1884-1903. Career In the 1890s, Peter Wylie Davidson set up a metalwork and design studio with his brother William Armstrong Davidson in Glasgow. He taught various art practices during his time at the Glasgow School of Art including leatherwork and bookbinding, woodcarving and he was instructor and assistant master of the metalwork department led by the sculptor William Kellock Brown. He tutored 'Kooroovi' De Courcy Lewthwaite Dewar, in metalwork in 1897 while she attended Glasgow School of Art becoming lifelong friends. Hermetic Brotherhood Of Luxor
The Hermetic Brotherhood of Luxor was an initiatic occult organisation that first became public in late 1894, although according to an official document of the order it began its work in 1870. According to this document, authored by Peter Davidson, the order was established by Max Theon, who when in England was initiated as a Neophyte by "an adept of the serene, ever-existing and ancient Order of the original H. B. of L." The Order's relation, if any, with the mysterious "Brotherhood of Luxor" that Helena Blavatsky spoke of is not clear. Theon thus became Grand Master of the Exterior Circle of the Order. However, apart from his initiatory role, he seems to have little to do with the day to day running of the order, or of its teachings. Lab Architecture Studio
LAB Architecture Studio was a firm of architects and urban designers based in Melbourne, Australia with international offices in London and Shanghai. Directors Peter Davidson after graduating from Bachelor of Architecture in 1980 from the NSW Institute of Technology, Sydney, moved to London in 1981 where he became editorial assistant for the journal International Architect. Whilst running his own practice for ten years, Davidson was also teaching at various institutions, including the Architectural Association School of Architecture where he met fellow design director of LAB Donald Bates. Davidson suffered a severe stroke in 2010 and has no involvement with Lab Architecture Studio. Donald Bates completed his bachelor's degree of Architecture in 1978 from the University of Houston, Texas and received his masters of Architecture in 1983 at the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Desperate Dan
Desperate Dan is a wild west character in the now-defunct Scottish comic magazine ''The Dandy'', and became its mascot. He made his appearance in the first issue which was dated 4 December 1937. He is apparently the world's strongest man, able to lift a cow with one hand. The pillow of his (reinforced) bed is filled with building rubble and his beard is so tough he shaves with a blowtorch. The character was created by Dudley D. Watkins, originally as an outlaw or ‘desperado’ (hence his name), but evolved into a more sympathetic type, using his strength to help the underdog. After Watkins’ death in 1969, the cartoons were drawn by many other artists, principally Ken H. Harrison, though the Watkins canon was often recycled.
