Pete Morin
Joseph Pierre Marius "Pete, Pit" Morin (December 8, 1915 – January 5, 2000) was a Canadian ice hockey forward. He played 32 games in the National Hockey League with the Montreal Canadiens during the 1941–42 season. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1934 to 1950, was mainly spent with the Montreal Royals in the Quebec Senior Hockey League. Playing career Morin was born and raised in the Montreal suburb of Lachine and began playing for the Montreal Royals of the QSHL in 1936. There, he skated alongside Buddy O'Connor and Gerry Heffernan and the trio became known as the "Razzle Dazzle" line. In 1941–42 the three played together for the Canadiens. In 31 games he recorded 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points and appeared as a promising forward. Yet an injury cut his NHL career short and he returned to the less competitive QSHL where he continued to put up productive numbers. Assist (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, an assist is attributed to up to two players of the scoring team who shot, passed or deflected the Puck (sports)#In ice hockey, puck towards the scoring teammate, or touched it in any other way which enabled the Goal (ice hockey), goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the goal. There can be a maximum of two assists per goal. The assists will be awarded in the order of play, with the last player to pass the puck to the goal scorer getting the primary assist and the player who passed it to the primary assister getting the secondary assist. Players who gain an assist will get one point (ice hockey), point added to their player statistics. When a player scores a goal or is awarded a primary or secondary assist, they will be given a point. The leader of total points throughout an NHL season will be awarded the Art Ross trophy. Allan Cup
The Allan Cup is the trophy awarded annually to the senior ice hockey champions of Canada. It was donated by Sir Montagu Allan of Ravenscrag, Montreal, and has been competed for since 1909. It was most recently won by the Wentworth Gryphins in 2025. History In 1908, a split occurred in the competition of ice hockey in Canada. The top amateur teams left the Eastern Canada Amateur Hockey Association, which allowed professionals, to form the new Inter-Provincial Amateur Hockey Union (IPAHU), a purely amateur league. The trustees of the Stanley Cup decided that the Cup would be awarded to the professional ice champion, meaning there was no corresponding trophy for the amateur championship of Canada. The Ligue Magnus, currently known as Synerglace Ligue Magnus for sponsorship reasons, is the top men's division of the French ice hockey pyramid, established in 1906. The league operated under a variety of names before taking that of its championship trophy, the Magnus Cup, in 2004. The trophy was in turn named for Frenchman and IIHF founder Louis Magnus. Teams from the Ligue Magnus can participate in the IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL), competing for the European Trophy. Participation is based on the strength of the various leagues in Europe (excluding the European/Asian Kontinental Hockey League).
