Pete Goicoechea
Peter J. Goicoechea (born September 8, 1949) is an American politician serving as the Nevada State Senator from the 19th district since 2012. He previously served in the Nevada Assembly, representing the 35th district from 2002 to 2012. A member of the Republican Party, he was House Minority Leader from 2009 to 2012. Career Goicoechea was born in Salt Lake City and studied at Utah State University. He has owned a ranch since 1970 and also worked for many years for the Eureka County, Nevada road department. He served on the Eureka County Commission from 1987 to 2002 and then was elected to the Nevada State Assembly. He has also served as a member of the Nevada State Land Use Planning Advisory Council, the Nevada Grazing Board, and he has been the Director of the Nevada Water Resource Association. Eureka is an unincorporated town and census-designated places in and the county seat of Eureka County, Nevada, United States. Reprint. Originally published: San Francisco : H. Keller, 1879. With a population of 480 as of the 2018 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates, it is by far the largest community in Eureka County. Attractions include the Eureka Opera House (built in 1880 and restored in 1993), Raine’s Market and Wildlife Museum (built 1887), the Jackson House Hotel (built 1877), and the Eureka Sentinel Museum (housed in the 1879 ''Eureka Sentinel'' Newspaper Building). Humboldt River
The Humboldt River is an extensive river drainage system located in north-central Nevada. It extends in a general east-to-west direction from its headwaters in the Jarbidge, Independence, and Ruby Mountains in Elko County, to its terminus in the Humboldt Sink, approximately 225 direct miles away in northwest Churchill County. Most estimates put the Humboldt River at to long however, due to the extensive meandering nature of the river, its length may be more closely estimated at 380 miles (612 km). It is located within the Great Basin Watershed and is the third longest river in the watershed behind the Bear River at 355 miles (570 km) and the Sevier River at 325 miles (523 km). Eureka County is a county in the U.S. state of Nevada. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,855, making it the second-least populous county in Nevada. Its county seat is Eureka. Eureka County is part of the Elko Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Eureka County was established in 1873 and formed from Lander County after silver was discovered more than east of Austin. Nevada Senate
The Nevada Senate is the upper house of the Nevada Legislature, the state legislature of U.S. state of Nevada, the lower house being the Nevada Assembly. It currently (2012–2021) consists of 21 members from single-member districts. In the previous redistricting (2002–2011) there were 19 districts, two of which were multimember. Since 2012, there have been 21 districts, each formed by combining two neighboring state assembly districts. Each State Senator represented approximately 128,598 as of the 2010 United States Census. Article Four of the Constitution of Nevada sets that State Senators serve staggered four-year terms.
