Perween Hasan
Perween Hasan is a Bangladesh academic and rights activist. She is the chairperson of Transparency International Bangladesh. She is the Vice-Chancellor of the Central Women's University. Early life Hasan completed her bachelor's degree and master's in English from the University of Dhaka. She did her second master's in Regional Studies and PhD in Islamic Architecture from Harvard University in 1984. Career After Hasan completed her PhD she joined the Department of Islamic History and Culture at the University of Dhaka. From 1993 to 1994, Hasan was at the Oberlin College as the Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence. From 1998 to 2000, Hasan served as a founding executive committee member of American Alumni Association. Hasan was recognized by the American Alumni Association 2005 for her contributions to the association. Transparency International Bangladesh
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) is the Bangladeshi branch of the Berlin-based Transparency International, a civil society organisation dedicated to fighting against corruption. History TIB started its activities in 1996. In 2016 it criticised new government rules on NGOs that received foreign funding. It also asked the government to not take a 2 billion dollar development loan from the world Bank. This law was created after TIB Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman called the country's Parliament a 'puppet show stage'. Sultana Kamal
Sultana Kamal is a Bangladeshi lawyer and human rights activist. She serves as the executive director of Ain o Salish Kendra, a civil rights organisation. In 2006, she served as adviser in the Caretaker government of Bangladesh led by President Iajuddin Ahmed during the 2006-2008 Bangladeshi political crisis. Kamal, along with three other advisers, resigned from the caretaker government Her mother Sufia Kamal was a participant of the Bangladesh Liberation War. Central Women's University
Central Women's University is one of the first private university in Bangladesh, established in 1993. It was the first university in Bangladesh established exclusively for the purpose of female education. Beggzadi Mahmuda Nasir served as the founding vice-chancellor of the university until 1999. Following mismanagement on the part of the original governing body, it was one of the eight universities the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh recommended for shutting down due to poor quality of academic standards. The university was also served with show-cause notice by judicial authorities asking why it would not be closed down. As of August, 2010, the university received legal permission from the court to continue its educational activities under a new governing body and with new academic faculty and expanded academic offerings. Shahidul Alam
Shahidul Alam (born 1955) is a Bangladeshi photojournalist, teacher and social activist. He has been a photographer for more than forty years and "his photographs have been published in almost every major western media outlet". Alam founded the Drik Picture Library in 1989, the Pathshala South Asian Media Institute in Dhaka in 1998, "which has trained hundreds of photographers", and the Chobi Mela International Photography Festival in 1999. Alam is a visiting professor at the University of Sunderland in the UK. His books include ''Nature's Fury'' (2007) and ''My Journey as a Witness'' (2011).
