''Personal War'' is an EP by French hardcore punk band Birds in Row. It was released on 30 October 2015 through Deathwish, Inc., simultaneously with their split album '' Birds in Row / WAITC''. The songs on both releases were recorded in 2014 with producer Amaury Sauvé. A music video for the track "Weary" was released on 20 September 2015. The band streamed the album online a day prior to its release. Hardcore punk (commonly abbreviated to hardcore or hXc) is a punk rock music genre#subtypes, subgenre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. Melodic Hardcore
Melodic hardcore is a broadly defined subgenre of hardcore punk with a strong emphasis on melody in its guitar work. The style often includes guitar harmonies, riffs using octave chords, as well as broken chords. Additionally, lyrics tend towards intellectualism, often being politically conscious or narrative, with concept albums sometimes being prominent. Bands in the genre also have a tendency to take influence from a range of genres including emo, post-punk, screamo, pop-punk, metalcore, post-rock and gothic rock. In the early and mid–1980s, bands including the Faith, Descendents, Dag Nasty, Gorilla Biscuits and 7 Seconds were amongst the first hardcore bands to put an emphasis on their melodies. ''You, Me & the Violence'' is the debut studio album by French hardcore punk band Birds in Row. It was released on September 4, 2012 through Deathwish Inc. A music video for the lead track "Pilori" was released in June 2012. Musically, the album features a screamo-influenced melodic hardcore sound. Critical reception AbsolutePunk critic Dre Okorley wrote: "The reigning allure of the twelve tracks is that they are peppered with a sort of Tragedy/From Ashes Rise hybrid, the throat-pulling melodic hardcore that Portland trademarked so well, but are still captured in the Birds In Row mystique." Birds In Row / WAITC
''Birds in Row / WAITC'' is a split EP between the French punk bands Birds in Row and WAITC (formerly known as We Are in the Country). The EP was released on October 30, 2015 through the French label Throatruiner Records, with Deathwish Inc. handling wider distribution. In September 2015, both bands released one track each for online streaming to promote the release—Birds in Row released "Can't Leave", while WAITC released "Empty Decade/Saturnism". In October 2015, Birds in Row released a music video for the track "Can't Lie" directed by Mr Fifi. The video intersperses various clips of Birds in Row performing live with footage of a busy Asian city. Deathwish Inc. is an American independent record label conceived by Jacob Bannon of Converge (band), Converge and Tre McCarthy in 2000. Their first release was ''Deeper the Wound'', a split album between Converge and Japanese band Hellchild on April 23, 2001. Deathwish established itself quickly, working with a diverse group of bands and eventually becoming one of the most respected and innovative labels in contemporary hardcore punk and aggressive music in general. After having previously worked with RED Distribution, in March 2016, Deathwish signed a global deal with Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA), an independent distribution label under Warner Music Group that has also partnered with other punk labels including Epitaph Records, Rise Records, and Run for Cover Records.
