Perry Freshwater
Perry Thomas Freshwater (born 27 July 1973) is a retired English rugby union footballer. He is a loosehead prop and occasionally a hooker. Biography Born on 27 July 1973 in Wellington, New Zealand, Freshwater started playing rugby union as a five-year-old for the Wellington club and later played for New Zealand Schoolboys against Welsh Schoolboys in Christchurch in 1990. He also played for New Zealand U19 and New Zealand U21 teams before deciding to spend a year in England playing for the Leicester Tigers. Club career Freshwater made his debut against Nottingham in 1995 and went on to make over 130 appearances for the Tigers, many of them off the bench. Freshwater was an unused replacement in the 2001 Heineken Cup Final, and was a used replacement against Munster in the 2002 Heineken Cup Final. Samoa National Rugby Union Team
The Samoa national rugby union team (also known as Manu Samoa) represents Samoa in men's international rugby union and it is governed by the Samoa Rugby Union. They are also known as Manu Samoa, which is thought to derive from the name of a Samoan warrior. They perform a traditional Samoan challenge called the siva tau before each game. Samoa Rugby Union were formerly members of the Pacific Islands Rugby Alliance (PIRA) along with Fiji and Tonga. They are ranked 11th in the world. 2005 Churchill Cup
The 2005 Churchill Cup was held between 14 June and 21 June 2005 in Edmonton, Canada. It was the third edition of the Churchill Cup competition. three of the four rugby union teams taking part in the 2004 men's competition, Canada, England A, the USA, returned to compete, while Argentina A replaced the Māori. There was no women's event, although a similar event, the 2005 Canada Cup did take place. Format The competition took on a straight 'knock-out' format. Four teams played in two semi-final matches, with the North American sides kept apart. Perpignan
Perpignan (, , ; ca, Perpinyà ; es, Perpiñán ; it, Perpignano ) is the prefecture of the Pyrénées-Orientales department in southern France, in the heart of the plain of Roussillon, at the foot of the Pyrenees a few kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea and the scrublands of the Corbières massif. France A, also known as France XV and France B in the past, was the former name of the second national rugby union team of France behind the French national side. 2008–09 Top 14 Season
The 2008–09 Top 14 Competition was a French domestic rugby union club competition operated by the Ligue Nationale de Rugby (LNR). It ran from late August 2008 through the final at Stade de France on June 6, 2009, in which Perpignan lifted the Bouclier de Brennus with a 22–13 win over Clermont. This year's edition of the Top 14 welcomed Toulon, winners of the 2008 title in the second-level Pro D2, and Mont-de-Marsan, victors in the 2008 promotion playoffs between the second- through fifth-place teams in Pro D2. They took the place of Auch and Albi, relegated at the end of the 2007–08 Top 14. Auch, which had been promoted to the Top 14 for 2007–08, finished bottom of the table and went down. The Top 14 () is a professional rugby union club competition that is played in France. Created in 1892, the Top 14 is at the top of the national league system operated by the French National Rugby League, also known by its French initialism of LNR. There is promotion and relegation between the Top 14 and the next level down, the Rugby Pro D2. The fourteen best rugby teams in France participate in the competition, hence the name Top 14. The competition was previously known as the Top 16.
