Auguste Alain Georges Pernot (; 6 November 1879 – 14 September 1962) was a conservative French lawyer and politician. He was a deputy and then a senator before and during World War II (1939–45). He was Minister of Public Works in 1929–30, Minister of Justice in 1934–35, Minister of Blockade in 1939–40 and briefly Minister of the French Family and Public Health in June 1940. After World War II (1939–45) he was again a senator from 1946 to 1959. Throughout his career Pernot was a vocal pronatalist, pushing for government policies that would support the family and encourage higher birth rates to counter the demographic crisis in France. Hubert Octave Pernot (7 August 1870, in Froideconche – 27 June 1946, Paris) was a French linguist, specializing in Modern Greek studies. He studied at the École des langues orientales in Paris as a pupil of Émile Legrand and Jean Psichari, and from 1895 to 1912 worked as a ''répétiteur'' of Modern Greek at the school. Jean-Pierre Pernot (25 June 1947 – 2 June 2025) was a French politician. Pernot was born in Clichy-sous-Bois on 25 June 1947. He was first elected mayor of Méry-sur-Oise in 1995, while affiliated with the Socialist Party. Pernot later joined the Citizen and Republican Movement. The Constitutional Council froze Pernot's campaign accounts in a 2013 ruling, rendering him unable to run in the 2014 election. He served in the National Assembly as a Socialist Party member representing Val-d'Oise's 2nd constituency from 1999 to 2002, replacing Dominique Gillot, who accepted an appointment as health minister. Pernot supported the 2017 campaign of presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron. Pernot died on 2 June 2025 at the age of 77 at a rehabilitation centre in Ennery, Val-d'Oise. Jean-Pierre Pernaut (; 8 April 1950 – 2 March 2022) was a French news presenter and broadcaster. He was widely known simply by his initials, JPP. Biography Pernaut was born in Amiens, Somme, on 8 April 1950. The regular presenter of station TF1's lunchtime news bulletin, the ''13 Heures'' (1pm) between 1988 and 2020, Pernaut's combination of avuncular personality and authoritative delivery made him one of France's most popular news readers.
