The band consisted of Toni Halliday (vocals, occasionally guitar) and Dean Garcia (bass, guitar, drums, programming). Producer Alan Moulder was a prominent collaborator who helped shape their blend of heavy beats and densely–layered guitar tracks set against Halliday's vocals. Curve released five studio albums (''Doppelgänger'' in 1992, ''Cuckoo'' in 1993, '' Come Clean'' in 1998, ''Gift'' in 2001, and '' The New Adventures of Curve'' in 2002), five compilation albums ('' Pubic Fruit'' in 1992, '' Radio Sessions'' in 1993, '' Open Day at the Hate Fest'' in 2001, '' The Way of Curve'' in 2004, and '' Rare and Unreleased'' in 2010), and a string of EPs and singles. Gift (Curve Album)
''Gift'' is the fourth studio album to be released by the British alternative rock band Curve. Following two years of legal wrangles between the group and their then record company, Universal Records, the online success of Curve's self-released album '' Open Day at the Hate Fest'' convinced Universal - who had been threatening to shelve the album completely - to market it in the United States in 2001 under the Hip-O Records brand. The UK version was released a year later by FatLip Recordings in collaboration with Artful Records. A year after that, the album was released in Australia by Hoop Culture Records. The album was co-produced by Ben Grosse and Curve. Apart from Curve mainstays Dean Garcia and Toni Halliday, additional musicians who contributed to the album were Kevin Shields, Steve Monti, Alan Moulder, Flood, Rob Holliday, Geno Lenardo, Ben Grosse and Alan Wilder. Of the songs on the record, "Hell Above Water" has gained the highest public profile as a result of its us ...

During this period, many record labels were looking for "alternatives", as many Arena rock, corporate rock, hard rock, and glam metal acts from the 1980s were beginning to grow stale throughout the music industry. The emergence of Generation X as a Culture, cultural force in the 1990s also contributed greatly to the rise of alternative music. "Alternative" refers to the genre's distinction from mainstream or arena rock, commercial rock or pop. The term's original meaning was broader, referring to musicians influenced by the musical style or independent, DIY ethic, DIY ethos of late-1970s punk rock.di Perna, A ...

The pair formed an ill-fated group named State of Play in the mid-1980s before parting ways, embarking on a no less ill-fated solo career (Halliday) and further stints as a backing musician (Garcia), and then reuniting for a more long-term partnership in Curve. Garcia and Halliday collaborated in Curve between 1990 and 2005. The group's career was interrupted by several pe ...

Come Clean (Curve Album)
''Come Clean'' is the third studio album by English alternative rock band Curve. It was released on 10 March 1998 by Estupendo Records and Universal, and was the first Curve album to be released following their temporary split in 1994 and reformation in 1996. ''Come Clean'' marked a shift to a style more informed by dance and electronic music than Curve's earlier records. Significantly, the commercial success of and critical acclaim for ''Come Clean'' – at least relative to the reception that the group's harsher and less accessible 1993 album ''Cuckoo'' had received – encouraged Curve to continue recording. Musical style Stuart Derdeyn of ''The Province'' wrote that ''Come Clean'' found Curve "updating its sound to better reflect the noise and punch of contemporary electronic rock". ''The A.V. Club''s Joshua Klein said that the band expanded on the dance and electronic elements of their previous albums, with the music on ''Come Clean'' placing a heavier emphasis on "big beat ...
