Peripheral Heart Action Training
PHA training or peripheral heart action training is a form of bodybuilding circuit training that was popularized by former AAU Mr. America The Mr. America contest is a bodybuilding competition started by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). Bodybuilding is the practice of Resistance training, progressive resistance exercise to build, control, and develop one's skeletal muscle, muscles via muscle hypertrophy, hypertrophy. An individual who engages in this activity is referred to as a bodybuilder. Circuit Training
Circuit training is a form of body conditioning that involves endurance training, resistance training, high-intensity aerobics, and exercises performed in a circuit, similar to high-intensity interval training. It targets strength building and muscular endurance. An exercise "circuit" is one completion of all set exercises in the program. When one circuit is completed, one begins the first exercise again for the next circuit. Traditionally, the time between exercises in circuit training is short and often with rapid movement to the next exercise. The program was developed by R.E. Morgan and G.T. Universe Championships
The Universe Championships are annual worldwide bodybuilding events organised by the British National Amateur Body-Builders' Association (NABBA). Originally promoted as the contest, the event was expanded to include women's classes in 1968. Notable previous winners include bodybuilder, actor, and former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, and bodybuilder and actor Steve Reeves (1926–2000). Bob Gajda
Robert Steven Gajda (September 14, 1940 – January 16, 2022) was an American bodybuilder and performance training pioneer. Life and career Gajda was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 14, 1940. He held the title of AAU Mr. America, which he won in 1966, after defeating his training partner and friend, Sergio Oliva Sergio Oliva (; July 4, 1941 – November 12, 2012), often known by his epithet 'The Myth' for his physique and performance, was a Cuban American bodybuilder and three-time Mr. Olympia winner. Early life Sergio Oliva was born on July 4, 1 ... for the title. He also placed first in the 1966 FICH Mr. Universe. Gajda developed Chicago's Duncan YMCA gym, which was known as "the muscle factory on West Monroe", and played a major role in establishing the Chicago bodybuilding scene.
